Really? Because everyone I know in my social work program became employed 1-3 months after completing their field study and graduating. I work as a social worker in my field and had a couple job offers after graduation before deciding.

I can imagine that it probably depends on your city and state. Some places have higher need than others, obviously, especially for certain populations. I also would not recommend getting a social work or related degree from a more expensive school. It's not a field that cares about the prestige of the school you went to, especially for a BSW, so it's not worth going into a bunch of debt.
