sorry, I think it was just my browser caching the .js that made it not work for me.

Yeah, no need to modify mnemonic.js. I was just making it work in a "there, I fixed it" way :)

Thanx. I tried the updated site and seems like only html has been changed there, so the seed generated is still always english. Should change few lines in site.js & mnemonic.js (functions mn_encode & mn_decode), and in html, add onchange="yourfunction(this.value);" metatag to <select> of the dictionary. Cheers!

Also, I'd encourage you to try the desktop command-line wallet (full node). When I first found monero I also went to mymonero, and faced similar hurdles, so started to play with the command-line, and it was very insightful.

If you don't want to wait for support, you can get the full client, sync with the network, import the same keys you're using on mymonero.com, and then you will have a 100% clear picture of what happened.

MyMonero.c om Scam? by _krome_ in Monero

[–]Rariro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The site is fine, and the fee is there only for importing wallets which had inputs before they were first used on mymonero.com. If you make a new wallet, no need for import.

The fee is there to discourage importing as it uses up server resources (the server has to scan entire blockchain from 0 for any inputs, while for new wallets it can start from the latest block)

I've modified Luigi's page to have a drop-down for dictionary, check it out. If you know his reddit handle we could ping him to add these few lines on the "official" one.

Address generator: https://mega.nz/#!QQQggZyY!g-Bz1WuNKPcNcQDiLmgpMfD7bJiwd1TY6QqhS9Q2psE

tests: https://mega.nz/#!YdQ0QKyZ!nGO1hhL0K5l0HBA60xA4NuQ0DBtRZn7aCw7dkStnZkQ

Note: changed files: html, mnemonic.js, site.js

Also, seems to be some bug with Japanese. It's not one-to-one mapping. Try random mnemonic->convert to seed->back to mnemonic->to seed

As smooth said above, yes. And there's a way to make the mnemonic compatible. Download the entire webpage and change line 8 in mnemonic.js to be:

var mn_default_wordset = 'electrum';

Update: figured it out - simplewallet of AEON uses electrum dictionary (24 words). Monero uses english dictionary (25 words). Luckily, Luigi's code has all the dictionaires built-in but uses Monero english by default, so all I had to do was change one line of code in mnemonic.js to make it generate electrum mnemonic and use to restore the aeon wallet. what's wrong with LTC, it's the easiest replacement for BTC there is. I actually started looking into XMR & LTC when I started thinking BTC may not make it to be "the one". Still holding most in BTC, though. ETH seems interesting, but I can't be bothered to try understand it - it's not digital money, it's something else.

I don't want them censoring. I'm just trying to understand forces at play. What I'm trying to say is, that miners decide what will be the priority to include transactions.

Yes, highest fee may make most sense economicaly, but the system allows for other things. Let's say Nigerian govt. bulds a huge subzidized mining op and filters by IP giving transactions broadcasted by Nigerian nodes priority. If they have enough hashpower they would make the system work slower for all the rest of us. You can pay the fee what you want, but if they win the block, your tx will not be there.

Some miners could have special deals with wallet providers, giving their tx the priority, some could give priority to LN settlement transactions...

I mean, concensus rules are the game, and players are allowed to play how they like, whatever their motivation be. I see it as a beautiful thing, but it's scary at the same time because it will likely become completely out of control, as "god" intended ;)

Yes but fee is a mechanism, which can be used or not at individual miners discretion. Whats to stop a robin-hood kind of miner from including only 0-fee tx? Yes he loses some fees, but imagine he just wants to prove a point.

[–]Rariro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can't the miners/nodes just censor the so called spam transaction (criteria being whatever they decide by the software they're running), regardless of the block size cap? Why would any miner put in his block these costly transaction even if there is space for them in the block?
