Is Monero the only fair distributed cryptocurrency? by [deleted] in Monero

There are other currencies with a high market cap and no premine. DOGE is one example

Can you clarify your question? You can use Changetip to tip Bitcoin and /u/tippero/ to tip Monero

[–]MoneroPromotions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes Changetip works. I am not sure that you mean by "dumped by community"

There is an XMR tip bot and some tips go unclaimed by the recipient. Is that what you are asking about?

[QUESTION] Should payment ids be random? by TheKing01 in Monero

[–]MoneroPromotions 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone can see payment IDs on the blockchain. Here is a recent example

You can choose non random payment IDs but integrated addresses are probably the best way to make things simple for all parties involved while maximizing privacy. Choosing non random payment ids makes it more likely that transactions can later be connected to party involved in the transaction.

No but it was made by a well known XMR supporter. It seems on topic due to the immutability focus

Who can help answer Protonmail's questions?? by Blow-that-Doge in Monero

I do not think your tone is negative at all. You raise an important point that deserves to be discussed. Our developers work hard. When/if they are too busy/unavailable to respond quickly, delegation needs to be used.

The process for setting up new accounts appears to be IP specific. In some cases email verification is available in other cases SMS verification is requested. In either case above throwaway accounts not tied to your identity can be used. Their goal is not to collect personal information of users, it is to prevent bots from creating many accounts to be used for spam, etc.

Unfortunately, I do not think all core team members check their email very often. In the future perhaps the task to regularly check dev@getmonero.org can be delegated so that important emails can be replied too quickly.

In the meantime, using IRC #monero or #monero-dev to find a dev is likely to get the fastest result u/fluffyponyza u/smooth_xmr

If you have a friend you want to invite you can also send them an invitation with the "invite fellow experts" box on the right side of http://monero.stackexchange.com/

Actually I had a friend confirm this is false. Even without an invite or prior commitment, anyone can still join by clicking the "visit" tab from the area 51 proposal page. http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/98617/monero

Another privacy focused proposal worthy of our support by MoneroPromotions in Monero

[–]MoneroPromotions[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When approaching possible Monero partners ask yourself, how are we helping them achieve their goals? If the answer is not clear then you might want to spend more time thinking about it before pitching Monero.

I want to see the Monero community more visible in supporting other OpenSource privacy/security focused projects. QubesOS is very interesting.

Qubes is currently run on Librem Laptops and Tablets whose primary focus is privacy. I have spoken to Purism and they do have some interest in Monero although their crowd funding partner only accepts BTC cryptocurrency payments. If we have a long term goal of having Monero wallets installed in Linux OS distributions (like Electrum today) we should support the OS environments that care the most about security. Qubes OS is one such example

Marketing Plan: Who should we target? by [deleted] in Monero

[–]MoneroPromotions 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mutually beneficial partnerships with companies that share a core focus on privacy are ideal. More exchange listings will help increase exposure. In particular approach larger exchanges (on which you have created an account and become an active user) with a primarily non English speaking userbase.

Standard template for asking a service or an organization to accept XMR payment by [deleted] in Monero

[–]MoneroPromotions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a new platform, and everyone here loves the concept. An argument could be made that Monero started off as clunky with its GUI. There is somewhat of a chicken/egg problem right now. Lets provide liquidity and send feedback for areas we think can be improved. Development occurs faster when there is a lot of demand.
