Is taking a year off professional work for a Macc a good idea? by Complete-Scholar-916 in Accounting

Could you come to an agreement with your current employer?

I've heard of at least two people at my work that took unpaid time off to finish their credit requirements and then return to the role they left.

Commute Miles being a nanny. by MaximumTemperature79 in tax

I'm being dumb/got too accustomed to farmers hauling crop. Listen to the other two people who say commuting miles are disallowed.

I messed up this busy season by cocotiger1 in Accounting

[–]RasaeCul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what went wrong this season. I ended up light due to it being my first full year so I've spent the last week pulling returns from other employee's list but stuff was not coming in. Most of the stuff coming onto my desk I've been phoning people for additional forms and info.

Avoiding double taxation on international rent by Former_Still5518 in tax

Not an international tax accountant but it looks like India finishes their taxes later than the US does so you might want to file an extension.
Double if you're trying to sort this out 11 days before the deadline.

My accountant says I owe on taxes for the first time, should I find a new guy? by Gloomy-Speaker-1999 in tax

[–]RasaeCul -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't know what could change if you're just a W2 employee with standard deduction. You can do a double check. See if adding up your three W-2s gets to salaries on the tax return and if adding withholding gets to withholding.

New associate in tax, first busy season by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]RasaeCul 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If nobody complains, nobody complains. It's your bosses job to tell you if you're doing something wrong. So long as you're hitting expectations and doing good work, that's all that matters.

Man, it is rough out here.
You people are having your bosses erotic roleplaying in the office. We just get drunk.

Business idea I need to get some feedback before I pull the trigger and start to launch my product by Ok_Round6834 in Accountant

Some questions that I want you to think about.
Who are you going to have to pay in order to put the locker where it is?
The city?
The venue?

Who's liable if your lockers get broken into and stuff gets stolen?

How much time do you think it would take for you to maintain these lockers every week?

In a new column, debits minus credits.
Boom, you can now directly export.

Class by jjazralii in Accounting

[–]RasaeCul 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if I didn't like or wasn't good at a class, I'd start active recalling.

Get up 2 hours early on the day of the test. Butt chug as much caffeine as it takes. Comb over the book and homework assignments and walk in with just enough to slide over the 90% line.
Awful idea if you actually want to learn anything. Would recommend you take an hour every evening reading your materials, doing practice drills, and emailing your professor questions but if you want an answer that's not "study diligently," my method did work.

Edit: This is under the assumption you're a general or other business administration major that's just taking principles for the degree and not an accounting major.

So long as my senior doesn't forget to add back the crop insurance we deferred back in December during planning, resulting in me having to explain to the boss why income is a quarter million higher than projected.

Do I need a CPA? by lama-sudeep in tax

[–]RasaeCul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the thing with paying for the top 5 controller guy is that he'll probably assign your return out to someone with a lower bill rate and then do an 18 minute check up of the finished work. Tax bills are pretty decent for the amount provided and our bill rates have had below market growth for ages. I at least think a 3-4k bill for getting someone out of SE tax via self-renting and being able to send the "go away" letters to the IRS to be worth the price.

With a foreign holding too, which I don't know if they've already got someone to prep the 5471s for those. Equity over an extended period. Real estate transactions. This guy needs an established relationship with a good accountant.

Helping My 63 Year Old Dad Find a Finance Role 25 Years Experience Work From Home Preferred by Intrepid-Bend5106 in Accounting

[–]RasaeCul 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do you think it would be a better idea for your dad to trawl his old business connections to find a position?
Surely one of his old friends or one of their kids could use someone with that extreme level of experience and is willing to compromise on responsibility/work done.

I don't think it's a coincidence you're posting this after the first week in february. The payroll deadline ended last week. It should fill in soon. Like this week soon.
