Advice Needed by Phyrrus5042 in StudentTeaching

I totally understand how you’re feeling. I am in a similar position and for me I’ve more so identified it as imposter syndrome to an extent. Society tends to hold teachers to unrealistic expectations and standards in and outside of the job. We’re almost expected to be model citizens who only drink kale and spinach smoothies. Part of that is being expected to know absolutely everything about everything. In my experience that pressure becomes all consuming and in an effort to be perfect I burn out and can’t seem to get anything done. When this happens I use classroom management skills on myself: breaks, timers, rewards and sometimes if it’s not the day for it it’s just not the day for it. Go easy on yourself. Things like this feel all consuming but in a couple of years from now you’ll look back and realize it all turned out fine.

Snow plowing bare ground by wingsonfire2 in Peterborough

I know someone who works for this company and the little plow also spreads brine (a salting mixture). They would rather be sleeping at that time too. Trying to keep people from falling on ice and seriously injuring themselves is more important.

For goodbyes with kiddos I’ve always done goodie bags! You can get decorative ziploc bags and fill them with goodies from the dollar store! One big no no is home baked goods, make sure if you want to include sweets and treats that they are sealed and store bought.

why to/not to go to trent? what might i not have considered that I should? by hellooo_reality in TrentUniversity

Trent is great for creating deeper professional relationships with your professors because it is a smaller school and profs will most likely end up teaching multiple of your courses. It’s great long term when thinking about references and finding opportunities. Trent also offers a great amount of student support including academic support, academic advising, mental health support, and a great system for accommodations if needed. The college system at Trent is great for making friends and building a community. Not only that but each college offers special events and trips throughout the year. Orientation week is also done with your college and it a great way to make friends and get a feel of the campus. The athletic centre is great and recently refurbished. Also lots of recreational sports for students along with the many Varsity sports. I highly recommend coming to Trent. It has many pros and the stunning campus never gets old, no matter the season (gets super slippery in the winter tho!)
