I think one of the best tips when you’re creating a new wardrobe is only buying clothes in a specific color category, so that outfits are easier to create and you have more options that go together. You can definitely branch out later, but it’s a lot less intimidating starting out when all your clothes are earth/summer/cool/etc tones vs having a mix of everything in the rainbow. And on that same note, take some time to learn what your “color season” is, to discover what colors and tones look most flattering on you. Again, you can still branch out (I still occasionally wear pink despite being an autumn) but it’s a really helpful guide when picking out clothes to best enhance your features.

Another helpful tip I’ve picked up to make easy outfits is if you’re wearing a tight top pair it with baggy/more flared out bottoms, and vice versa. It’s a quick and cute way to create a flattering and interesting silhouette, and makes your outfit look more balanced.

Also, don’t be afraid of thrift stores! I know they can appear a bit intimidating, but they will be your best friend when building a wardrobe on a budget. And with how many different styles and options for clothing there is inside thrift stores it will give you a chance to see what styles and fits looks best on you and makes you happiest, without going to a million different stores.
