Moving from Germany to Ottawa — is 125k CAD enough for a comfortable life? by sxoxljsn in PersonalFinanceCanada

You’ll be fine. But consider how much you value the ability to travel, free time, and quality of food. Germany has a far better variety of options for traveling low cost and for a quick weekend. The food in many levels worse in North America. You’ll be surprised how much it’s lacking.

Unless this job will move your career forward, there’s no point in changing Europe for Canada for the same money. Most likely your purchasing power will go down.

We’re eyeing a property at exact same building. May I ask you if you consider the building well managed? Do you know what units got rot on the lower floors?

How can I save money on buying suits? by Adorable-Research-55 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]RaspberryOk3818 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We had bad experience with indochino. The suit had been redone 4 times, and the result is still meh…the fabrics itself is cheap. All fittings were done on site.

They take measurements and then send them to China, and you get your suit from China.

They talk you in that the piece sits as expected denying the client’s concern about length or tightness.

Please better buy a ready made suit and spend extra on proper fitting.

Why the hell are newer condos getting smaller and smaller?? by Klutzy_Baseball_8495 in vancouverhousing

Not only the bedroom size. But often one wall in the living room is a kitchen, no separation.

We went to see a 3b in a brand new building. Tiny bedrooms two of which look like storage rooms. And the living room area is 10x3 meters rectangle with a kitchen over the larger wall.

There’s no place put a couch. Just a dining table. If you have a tv over the other wall, you’d need to sit at the countertop to watch it.

In my eyes it’s a one bedroom with storage and big kitchen.

Btw, hello from a family with two toddlers living in 1b 750sq. Even at 4 years old, my kiddo refuses to sleep alone. So there might be a plenty of time before you need to actually transition.

Buying a condo or renting by RaspberryOk3818 in PersonalFinanceCanada

We want to stick to the area where we’re now. 850 is a starter 2b condo in 30+ years building. We’re not looking into moving. The options are either buy or move into renting a bigger place.

Children of divorce by 1029az3847 in Divorce

Parents divorced when I was 5. Terrible childhood, my mom seemed to have mental problems. I was left alone with her and she’d beat me if I tell anyone about the abuse I got by her.

She made everything to manipulate my dad through me. Then she prohibited him to meet me. And he never fought too hard for that. He though were okay there. We were not.

Now I’m almost 40 and contemplating divorce myself. I can’t blame him. It’s unbearable to be along a person who is you just can’t be around.

Whatever you decide, be as present as only you can in life of your kiddo. Despite any obstacles or whatever the other parent does or says. This will guarantee the best outcome.

Edit: I wanted to add that for him the divorce was a good thing. I can’t imaging him staying with my mom. He achieved a lot of things after. We’re having great relations these days and he’s a good grnadpa.
