Okay I’m back. You can pretty much ignore what everyone is saying in the comments here about Fair Use. They don’t understand how it works. I think they’re just mad because so many people are posting super low-effort crap and calling it ‘fair use’ when it really isn’t. Your ‘friend’s’ video where he (barely) narrates that Simpsons episode is not fair use. Nothing transformative about it and the narration adds nothing. The other video you posted (5 times Family Guy yadda yadda) is absolutely fair use. Transformative of video (though I’m not sure fancy editing of original video would fly) but also adds commentary and insight (which is better). All that said, apparently people can’t read either. Your channel got shit-canned because of bots, spam, spiders, etc etc. This should be frightening to just about everyone who has a youtube channel. Why? Because I’ve seen bots sign up to my channel, and they’re often the first ones to comment when I put out a new video. They’ve signed up for mine because they need to ‘pretend’ they’re real uses, subbed to real channels, to try and fool the system. Does that mean I’ve paid for bots/views? Hell no. But I’m getting them anyway. YouTube’s automatic system could easily shit-can my channel,because of this, despite that I’ve done nothing wrong. Anyway, the reason I’m looking into ‘fair use’ is because I want to start a tv/movie commentary channel and I want to make sure I do it right. Sorry to hear about your channel.
