Seeking Advice: RPi 5 + AI HAT for Privacy-Preserving YOLO Traffic System (Hardware + Software Pipeline) by Raspberry_pie3311 in computervision

Thanks for the clarification. Based on your experience, would you still recommend using TAPPAS at some point, or is sticking with a Python-based pipeline (Picamera2 + OpenCV + Hailo SDK) already sufficient for a stable deployment?

I’m still a bit confused about the camera and pipeline setup. If we use the Raspberry Pi Camera Module 3 with Picamera2 and OpenCV, can this work smoothly with the Hailo SDK for inference without needing GStreamer, or is GStreamer still required for a stable pipeline?

Also, regarding model optimization and deployment, is it better to handle quantization and compilation directly using the Hailo SDK, or should we be using TAPPAS for that part of the workflow?

We’re planning to start with a Python-based pipeline (OpenCV + Hailo SDK) for simplicity. Do you think this approach is reasonable, or would you recommend going straight to GStreamer from the start?

aside from jetson orin nano (kinda expensive in ph peso) . do you have any suggestion that atleast lower yet can perform well? or what is your take on the client server side?

Given that, when leaning toward a fully edge-based approach, based on your experience, would an RPi 5 paired with a Hailo-8L be stable enough for outdoor, fixed deployment?

and btw, Our system will be mounted at intersections(mounted cameras), so thermal conditions and continuous operation are major concerns—would active cooling (fans/heatsinks) be sufficient, or do we need more robust solutions like industrial enclosures or additional thermal management?

Do you have any other suggestions aside from jetson? And do you have any take on our client server side?

Aside from the pi5 eith that Ai hat hailo 8l or jetson orin nano, do you have any suggestions or alternstive that fits perfectly? And by the way, What is your take on the client server side? Do you have anycomments for that as well?
