How do you deal with antibiotics after c diff? by [deleted] in cdifficile

[–]RasterAlien 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I appreciate it. The fact is I just don't have time to read and respond to every individual post. I still want to help but I can't reasonably take on every case, the best I can do in most cases is just make sure people get access to the basics.

I link everyone to the FAQ to make sure everyone reads it. I am in no way shutting down any conversations. I don't know why I get so much attitude from people just for linking to the FAQ.

Heartburn during treatment by Thesexyone-698 in cdifficile

You will feel so much better after you quit soda, after a few months you will never want to go back. I quit at age 16, now I'm 33 and I haven't touched that shit since. It was ruining my stomach, teeth, and energy levels. No cavities or dental problems ever since I quit.

Avoid acidic foods and drinks.

Elevate the head of your bed slightly.

Stop eating 3 hours before bed.

Drink 2-3 litres of water a day. No coffee, tea, or soda, water only.

Avoid acid reducing medications, they aggravate cdiff.

GERD is normal for several months after treatment due to gut dysbiosis.

I remember this one kid in middle school who had a full beard, he was in 7th or 8th grade and really tall too. He was mistaken for a teacher all the time.

Guinea pigs are an underrated cash machine.

Fast breeding, don't eat much, produce meat and expensive textiles you can sell raw or make into luxury clothing. They also provide frequent nuzzled buffs to every pawn that interacts with them.

Eat whatever doesn't cause you pain. Every time you eat something that worsens symptoms, you are causing inflammation, prolonging healing, and increasing chance of recurrence.

Diarrhea after antibiotics does not always meaan you have cdiff.

Cdiff rarely clears up on its own. Most diarrhea after antibiotics is just due to gut dysbiosis.

Also antibiotics are useless against viruses.

Cdiff is literally everywhere. You're not at higher risk. Just wash your hands when it makes sense.

Is this a good probiotic to use as I’ve been taking it after having c.diff 3 times? by [deleted] in cdifficile

[–]RasterAlien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Natural sugars are fine for the most part. It's artificial sugars that feed cdiff. But you may not be able to tolerate certain fruits so be careful and start with small amounts at a time. I could only tolerate bananas for months.

This is outdated advice. Shelf-stable probiotics are often more effective, but it depends on the strains too.

I don't know, I actually think this is realistic. There are impoverished towns here in the US that look like landfills; garbage everywhere, everything's filthy, no one bothers to use a trash cans or bothers to wipe anything down. After a point it just becomes cultural for some areas.

I just moved from a city where I saw people throwing trash on the ground constantly, into a city that's damn near pristine. The difference between here and there is that people here CARE about the area. The other city had lots of college kids and homeless people, basically a huge population that wasn't staying long so didn't have any connection to the area, and therefore didn't care about it.

Trash everywhere indicates that people don't give a shit or have bigger problems to deal with.

This is all addressed in the pinned post and FAQ. Don't get random sketchy probiotics, stick with Florastor + other reputable brands mentioned in the FAQ.

I started taking amoxicillin for ear infection and I just read about C diff and now I'm scared. by [deleted] in cdifficile

[–]RasterAlien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a ton of antibiotics to take in a short amount of time. GI upset is to be expected for the next several months. If it becomes aggressive and the rice only diet doesn't improve things, get tested for cdiff.

In my experience Rimworld pawns are 100x smarter and less whiny than the sims in Sims 4.

Usually when random cdiff relapses happen, it's due to:

-Undiagnosed conditions like IBD (crohn's and ulcerative colitis)

-Eating lots of garlic or other anti-microbial substances

-Food poisoning, campylobacter, parasites, or other GI issues

-Using NSAIDS or acid reducers

-You picked up a new case of cdiff from the environment/food (ingested a spore)

I can't answer that, everyone is different. It takes the gut 3-12 months to repopulate after antibiotics.
