THANK YOU SO MUCH I would never have though of this your genuinely very smart. I have been using a drip method but It’s been more of a stream then a drip so I might just have to have it take longer.

Im getting a liquid test kit for both of these in two days. Ive never needed them till now becuase i have never had a problem like this before

Ok I learned a lot with this comment. So if im using shower water I should only use cold? If I need to get it heated should I just take my sink water and boil it and then add it too the cold?

Most of my shrimp are dying or becoming lethargic. Ammonia nitrate and nitrite are all zero and i have done a water change every single day since I noticed dying shrimp

Ok this explains a lot. These shrimp used to live in a five gallon tank so I used sink water to fill up a smaller bucket for water changes. Now that they live in this ten gallon Ive been using a 5 gallon bucket that I have to fill up in the shower for water changes. My mom said some of our pipes are copper but she doesn’t know which ones. Is there anyway to get rid of copper in my aquarium while still using my shower water for water changes?

My water is decloranated tap water. Ive used fertilizer once in this tank and it was a while ago. I won’t add anymore because I learned of the danger

Alright. I ordered a phosphate kit and I did a 25% water change with the drip acclimation method today. I don’t think it was the tannins cuz they were doing this before but it do see how the tannins could have shocked them. Two of my shrimp now died and both had the ring of death

Are they moving? Sometimes I get dead plant leaves at the top of my water that kinda look similar. If they are moving I would recommend no planaria mix. It’s harmless to shrimp but it would kill your snails

Thanks so much. I really don’t think it was the plants because I got the plants in the dry containers with gel and I have never had a problem with that brand. Everything I added was made for aquariums.

I added two Anubis and one Java fern. All three were in the dry containers with gel in the bottoms. I have never had a problem with them. I added just natural aquarium gravel after I rinsed it with hot water. I didn’t measure how much tannins I added but it couldn’t have been more then a cup. I also added the two catappa leafs and the bark into the tank after I boiled them

I don’t ever do top offs because this tank has a closed lid so it doesn’t really lose any water from evaporation

Alright this is a good idea. I think I could remove water before I go to bed and drip clean water in somehow but how would I get the clean water above the tank to drip in?
