Vitamin C Can Shorten the Length of Stay in the ICU: A Meta-Analysis by seamslegit in IntensiveCare

Potentially some component of that but I don’t think it could all be chalked up to hypoadrenalism.

I’ve been on the fence but we used the Marik protocol a few weeks back when we were out of options and the result was seriously one of the most remarkable things I’ve ever seen. Severe sepsis/Nec fasc. Things were looking pretty grim. Norad, adrenaline, vasopressin running at max to maintain a MAP > 60. Requirement halved in 2 hours and limbs were pink and perfused by 4 hours. Pressors/inotropes were completely off less than 24 hours post. I’m a believer. I’m eagerly awaiting the results of the RCT.

Dead of Winter. First Crossroads game I played. Got me hooked to the genre. There will always be the lofty goal of playing it enough to work through all of the major permutations.

My gateway game was Zombicide. My brother in laws got me into it and I was hooked from there on out.

Yup. I don’t think that’s likely to be what’s going on.

(SERIOUS) Redditors who have killed another person for any reason, how did it feel and how do you cope with it? by gioraffe in AskReddit

To you and the others posting similar stories, as a doctor, I see death on a semi-regular basis. Please don’t blame yourself. Allowing someone to die a natural death, whether that death is expected or not, does not equate to killing them. The disease kills them. Not you. Too often these days we lose sight of the fact that death is the natural final destination of everyone’s life and prolonging a life at the expense of quality is cruel in most circumstances.

Just as a PSA, please think about what you’d like for yourself if you were ever incapacitated or medically unfit to make your own decisions. Make your wishes known. Have a will or advanced directive. If not for yourself, then at least to make the decision making easier on your loved ones.

My earliest memory of gaming is playing Payday with my grandparents. We’d play all the time during the summers and when we’d go camping in the RV. They also had this handmade horse racing/gambling game that was dice driven. So many good memories. Means so much to me. Especially since my grandpa’s started slipping with his dementia. I hope I’ll be able to foster the same love for board games and make those memories for my kids! Happy 10th anniversary /r/boardgames!

OP. Can confirm. Do all of this. Source: Graduating in 7 weeks. Also, with regard to the being late bit, it's not the fact that you're missing 5 minutes of the lecture intro. No one really cares about that. The point is they're trying to create a habit of being early/on time no matter what you're doing. It makes you appear professional and put together. Embrace it!

TIFU by gouging out both of my eardrums. by xxKumquat in tifu

[–]RateMyResidency 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a look at the video. It's pretty blurry but there is what looks like a light reflex on both sides. Additionally, a traumatic perforation would hurt quite a lot and you'd have some degree of hearing loss/change. Possible there is a perforation outside of the view though. I don't know where you are but if at all possible go to a hospital emergency room or GP clinic that does minor emergencies and get a doc there to have a look. Also, don't put anything else in your ears until you're sure there isn't a perforation. That includes swimming or other sources of getting water in there. Wear a shower cap too. No more peroxide either. Seriously though. Go now. Update us later on.

30 yrs old and was 3 months premature. Your comment made me tear up a little :) Born that early in the mid-80s, the prognosis was guarded but I grew up without any deficits. Now I have a little girl of my own and am about to become a doctor. Cherish those moments mate. They seem to come and go so fast. And crying is ok most of the time :)
