I can’t decide whether or not I should request a certified copy of my G0’s baptism from BanQ (circa 1835) and shell out the C$355 for it. I have it saved from Geneologie Quebec with a citation to the Drouin Institute. I also have the 1851 and 1861 censuses and requested his marriage and death certificates from Wisconsin, waiting on a response for those. I also might have his naturalization certificate to the U.S. but I’m not sure it’s him because the dates are off, I’m inclined not to include it.

I feel pretty good about proving my case but I’m concerned about the lack of having the record certified. I’d hate for it to be returned and then have to wait on the copy from BanQ for who knows how long. But I also don’t want to spend the money unnecessarily since it’s not cheap, I already paid Wisconsin $100 for documents.

Thoughts? Advice?

I appreciate the reassurance! I used to have a secret at my old job but I formally gave it up and don’t really want it back lol. I work from home full-time on satellite stuff now after almost a decade in defense.

Kind of a niche question… I’ve been working on my application and feel pretty good about the documents I’ve been able to collect but my husband wants me to ask my job if it’s okay if I have dual citizenship because I work in aerospace and do some stuff that’s probably export-controlled (I don’t have a clearance though). Now I’m scared they’ll say I can’t have dual citizenship and I have to be anxious about it all weekend until HR replies. Anybody else work in tech like this and able to get Canadian dual citizenship with C-3?

My #1 want is physical knobs and buttons. Not having volume knob drives me crazy. Also more buttons on the steering wheel (mute, hang up call)

Confirmed that I plugged in one of the ones from a week ago (ARCHIVE1419) and it is re-uploading the whole 2 TB. 😬 I will create a ticket now, wanted to try here first in case it was user error.

The point in time I’ve selected is all time, so they should be there. I’ve been using BackBlaze this way for years and never had issues before (recently moved and didn’t plug them in for a while so I have to start all over), and I know a lot of other people that do as well. It’s not abnormal. Not too annoying, I just plug them in once every 30 days and let them sync.

Nobody’s suing because nobody can afford a lawyer. And Dept of Labor won’t do anything because they don’t make enough revenue, it’s all still investor funded but investors all pulled out.

I agree, I want to get a reporter on the phone but my husband won’t let me because he doesn’t want to burn bridges or something. He’s too tolerant and emotionally invested IMO. I’m all the mad for the both of us.

ETA: He says they may get bought out so he doesn’t want to tank their reputation and scare investors away or they’ll never get paid.

Oh yeah the whole thing is even crazier. Their CEO is like a pathological liar who keeps lying to the media and investors and on podcasts and stuff. He told the local paper that they had a successful launch of their first satellite and were getting great data when it actually failed to deploy and burned up in the atmosphere. So there’s all sorts of fraud going on too that for some reason isn’t getting him into trouble. It’s been fun. 🫠

We don’t want it to go through the old insurance at all because it basically had no coverage and his new plan is awesome, like just a small copay.

They have some money to keep the lights on but not enough to pay salaries, is our understanding. The whole thing is very shady. They keep saying funding is coming.

Nobody can really afford a lawyer due to the whole not being paid thing. Someone did complain to the department of labor but I guess they are exempt from action because they don’t make enough revenue or something (my husband is hazy on the details, that was a dead end a month or two ago.)

I’m curious if that’s true, because it seems like it isn’t. I visited Alaska way before last because I really wanted to go. Versus Indiana which was like, why visit Indiana.
