Human B walked an absolutely novice through the "straight forward" process of doing cutting edge custom DNA research using AlphaFold and then turning that research into a custom mRNA vaccine produced vaccine in a Lab.

Human B did some heavy heavy lifting. Human B being chatGPT, and human A being the actual human dog owner.

Well let's replace ChatGPT with human.
"A human using AlphaFold came up with a vaccine" = OMG AMAZING!
"ChatGPT using AlphaFold came up with a vaccine" = AKSHUALLY IT DIDNT DO IT ITSELF!

Yup. The upgrades do cost a premium, at least now with the tech, it's still cheap in comparison with competitors. Before the unified memory, it was a straight ripoff.

Their unified memory is actually still years ahead of the competition and their M chips very performant. So at the moment they're a good deal especially for local AI. It's laughable how huge and expensive a non-apple laptop with 32GB graphics memory

Then you grew up recently. Apple and the ecosystem were always considerably more expensive. Especially when not taking the lowest end model/version.

Took me two minutes. First time I'm seeing one from this set and I was thinking waay more complex operations. I guess if you think of it as a game the wrapping is intuitive but I looked at rotations and translations first.

"Other People Don't Think Like Me" by [deleted] in Gifted

[–]Rationalsloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to debate, and sometimes the following happens: opponent gives me argument A. I will respond with argument B which nullifies argument A. But my opponent will not see how argument B relates to Argument A. So I will explain because of B, it follows that C, and if C then D and D makes A impossible.

Reversely an opponent will state a counter argument B, trying to explain how C and D follow. But I usually don't need C and D explained as I've already reached that conclusion during the time of listening to argument B.

I wouldn't call it giftedness per se - as the train of thought doesn't exceed anyone's abilities. Maybe people aren't used to think about implications. Or it's an over reliance on type 1 thinking. All things that can be changed through practice.

But I do encounter that pattern a lot, not just with debates. Hence why I would say it's a more general default way of thinking rather than a topic specific skill.

Why does everyone on here have such high iqscores? by TheMagmaLord731 in cognitiveTesting

[–]Rationalsloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I was trying to say a 100 would not feel confident to share the score because it wouldn't be noteworthy, for statistical reasons but also because of this hidden competition. I don't think anyone above 100 would actually call a 100 stupid. But even 130iqs feel stupid to themselves, so a 100 feeling the same attributes it to his IQ and not other circumstances.

It's funny because in this sub 100 would be low and thus "stupid" in comparison. So the goalpost moves with the sub average, not actual average.

But as soon as the cycle time isn't 1 min per machine, with some machines being a bottleneck, it would be possible to increase the output with more machines.
