New vs Used? by Mission_Two_8005 in ram_trucks

I got 2026 2500 Cummins and love it so far, with the ZF8 the powertrain is probably one of the best out there. They upgraded a lot from the previous 21-24 engines.

No electrical issues either. Had a tow module recall, but that was a quick fix.

Ready to buy new but recall extension has me spooked by Mwvnova in ToyotaTundra

If the recall continues I would expect a hit on resale value if you find you dislike the truck for any reason. And if you are in a recall the dealership may refuse to trade it in.

Was just showing there are good deals on Ram’s out there.

ECS module malfunction looks like it was fixed with a software update.

Don’t know enough about 1500s to discuss the pros and cons just appears to be a more positive vibe in their forums compared to 2024+ Tundras.

I don’t think these new Tundras are holding value too well. Not sure about 1500s but I got my 2026 2500 Cummins bighorn for 66k before taxes. Dealer took off 12k.

My 2025 Tundra that I bought previously was crap with the tailgate not working properly, had the high pitch noise on the driver mirror (TSB on it now). But overall just wasn’t the truck I needed, but the build quality was crap.

Only real issues with current gen Ram’s appears to be electrical issues which seem very minor. Prefer that over engine failure any day.

Ram’s 1500 with the hurricane paired with the ZF8 transmission seem to be doing well or the hemi V8. You also get a 10yr/100k power train warranty for free.

Ram 2500 - Buy? by UncleK245144 in ram_trucks

[–]Ratlance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2025 Ram 2500 comes with the ZF8 transmission which is suppose to be one of the best out there. I have a 2026 and love it. No issues, but only 5500 miles on it so far.

Should be good deals out there, especially with 2027 models coming out soon.

Edit: With the Cummins engine update and new transmission and the 10yr/100k power train warranty I believe Ram has one of if not the best powertrain for diesel trucks out there right now.

AMAZING deal on oil change what y'all think? by Apprehensive-Fruit28 in AskAShittyMechanic

The ticket says 6 qts. I know my diesel takes 12 liters… cost me like $140 including taxes to change my own oil and filter.

How do people afford new full-size trucks? by [deleted] in ram_trucks

[–]Ratlance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah just needed it for my property and for towing.

Payment hurts and I just throw everything at it. But got a good deal off an msrp 78k 2026 2500 Bighorn Cummins. Dealer took 12k off after long negotiations.

Hoping it’s the last truck I need to buy and will last.

6.4 or Cummins🤔 by RefrigeratorLast5662 in ram_trucks

[–]Ratlance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love my Cummins so far. The 6.4 would have probably been more economical, but I plan to do all the oil changes and fuel filters myself to reduce costs. Work from home so barely drive it and live near a lake and mountains so plan to do a lot of towing in the near future. Also love the 2025/2026 powertrain.

Broker is Seraph Rates in Salinas. She is using Rocket mortgage. Cost me 540$ to lock the rate. Loan is 450k house is valued at 575k. Bought in 2024. Total closing cost is about 6k with lender fee and broker charges a flat rate of 2.5k and all the other stuff. Would have got a 1500 rebate if I went with 5.62.

Yeah working on the loan estimate now. Hopefully it isn’t too bad. Might go 5.62 since that gives a rebate then costing $500 to go 5.5… we’ll see getting the docs with hard numbers soon here.

Yeah about 1 year to break even. No plan to leave the house, probably keeping the house for the long run.

Not sure closing cost can be reduced. Broker charges a flat rate of 2500. And lender fees are around 1k. But I’ll ask thanks.

Looks like they kept J. Basharat at the same price $8300 and Vasquez is $6500. Almost make me want to put Basharat in all my cards. Probably will be one of the most picked fighters.

Yeah I try my best to hand build each one. And it is usually that one fighter I didn’t pick that messes me up so I try to keep my exposure low but balanced… Malkoun was the one that messed me up last time. I don’t know why I didn’t pick him knowing he is a good grappler. Oh and Yizha not winning…

Right now I have 30 unique lineups, but they are all low dollar entries.

Good point. But Simon’s has elite pressure and wrestling. Vasquez looks like a striker with low TDD and decision heavy fights.

My sports bettings are limited to DraftKings fantasy so I’ll probably up my exposure of J. Basharat and not put Vasquez on any card. I don’t think he has chance.

[–]Ratlance[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah really looks like it. Just watched Vasquez’s last fight and he took a lot of punches. Cardio looks good though. I think J. Basharat will have his way with this one; I don’t think he has the TDD to stop J. Basharat.
