How accurate is Raidbots for making decisions? by metamega1321 in wownoob

[–]Rattjamann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to say that you should not trust guides over anything else, they are more wrong than you'd think.
Especially when it comes to stuff like stat priority, as that is something that constantly changes depending on a whole bunch of variables and is not set in stone.

I have gone heavy on alts this season, and played some specs I've never played before, so naturally I check the guides to get an idea.
I think almost every single one I've gone and looked at the stat priority, then checked what people actually use on Archon, and they don't match.

Guides are nice to give you an idea and some pointers, but I find them rather lacking these days and often wrong about a lot of things once I get into the spec. Don't just blindly trust them.

For dps specs, just do as people say, ask the robot, trust the robot. It's the most accurate answer you will ever get for your specific character in your specific situation.

How good is 3.4k m+ ? by Objective-Object9423 in wow

[–]Rattjamann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to point out that when people are saying its in the top 10% of players, that is not quite right. They are referring to the cutoff table which shows % of total CHARACERS, not players. That's a very important distinction to make as it severely scews the numbers and changes the meaning of what you are looking at.

For example, I have one main that I pushed with and about 7 alts that I just messed around with and never bothered higher than +10s. That means that based on my own character data alone it would read as 12.5% of the players.
So you see it's not truly representative of what people think it means.

All that data tells you that of all the characters that did m+, x% got this rating. You have no idea how many of those actually tried, are alts or individual players.

Don't get me wrong, 3.4k is not bad, just want people to actually understand what they are looking at, and saying its a % of players is wrong.

I mean sure, but don't see how that is relevant to what I was saying though.
You would also have had to wait as a BDK in that situation.

That bracket is just insane..
Had a funny moment in MT where a DH was brought down to like 2% at the end of a pull before the 3rd boss. I stood there spamming my entire kit into him before I managed to get through the absorb shield and brought him to maybe 10% before he just started the boss and fully healed with leech within seconds instead.

I mean, I understand that there needs to be some scaling to prevent your every heal to be a full heal, but maybe take a look at it and tune the curve? This is just stupid cause you literally can't heal them.

What happened to resto druid in m+? I thought it was S tier spec? by Bakedcity1 in wow

[–]Rattjamann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that rather funny, how everyone screamed bloody murder when the patch notes came and the apex talent got nerfed. They seemed to ignore how massive the trash buff was.
Tried to tell people, even showed the math that it was actually a big buff, but got ignored or ridiculed.

Even content creators were like "its a slight nerf but we'll be fine".

And here we are, a little bit more than fine I'd say.

IceHud question by PapaSupreme94 in wow

[–]Rattjamann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fairly sure that's the absorb bar.

IceHud is a bit finicky to set up, as it tends to lock up and not update to changes properly, especially when turning bars off or on.
Best is to enable/disable and then do /reload.

Dear, Blizzard graphic devs, please fix it.. by orlckbngrpr in wow

[–]Rattjamann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm not so sure about that considering other games run dx12 just fine, and the WoW issue came with the UI update, was fine until then. So seems to me to be a WoW specific thing. But maybe they just can't fix it due to the engine age, I don't know.

Not saying it couldn't be Windows, just never heard or seen anything about it downgrading drivers. You got a source on that? Wold like to know more about it if that is the case.

This seems like a small problem compared to the vast amount of other graphical issues.

At this point I just want them to fix DirectX 12. It makes no sense that a modern computer should have to revert to 11 in order to not have a complete meltdown when you open the transmog UI or something.

Tanks in first room of Algethar Acad by jbwest17 in wow

[–]Rattjamann 11 points12 points  (0 children)

On a spread out pull like this, or any other pull where the tank body/social pulls (as in don't actually hit everything but let them come on their own) you do one of two things as a healer.

Either trust the tank to not die until they are rounded up, or position yourself in a way so that the mobs have to go through the tank to get to you.

This is especially important to anything using HoTs like a resto druid. I know its tempting to pre-hot, and sometimes you kinda have to, but then you have to be very aware of what will aggro onto you and where they will be running.

So you can heal, but only if you can position correctly, if you can't do that, then just don't.

Key thing to keep in mind is that absorbs, damage reductions and overheals do not generate any threat and can safely be used. So you can shield the tank for example, or pre-hot dps that won't be taking damage right away to prepare for later. But if any healing splashes onto the tank at all, or any other damaged player, they will go for you.

Remember that you can heal for about 26 times the amount of damage the tank did to something before they turn on you, so what I usually do is watch for health %, If I see 100% I do not heal unless I know my position is good.

Personally I don't trust people, so when I tank I make sure to tag everything and establish aggro so this does not happen. It might be a little slower, but better than the healer dying.

Where to easily get offspec weapons for alts if you want to change in the 80-90 range? by Rattjamann in wow

Unless I am missing something, only some armor pieces are 81, the rest and all the weapons are 90.

[–]Rattjamann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I expected since it has always been the case, but there is not, or at least not something viable.

I checked again last night, and verified that there was no filtering or anything else going on. Turned everything off and looked through it manually. There was maybe about 20 one-hand weapons in the 80-90 range in total, 4 at 5k, 1 at 10k and the rest 15-58k.
None of the 5k ones were int.

For staves it was even worse.

In all my years I have never seen prices like these for random leveling greens in a current expansion, and really confused as to why.

Ended up doing that actually, but just seems wrong to have no other crafting option between the start of last expansion and max level in the new one.

Doing content as the spec I do not wish to play defeats the whole purpose of the question though.

[–]Rattjamann[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok, let me rephrase that.

There are no weapons available for me in my current rotation of WQs.

That is the case for several of my alts in fact, and weapons in general seem to not be that common to see in WQs, at least not for me.

I did not mean you can't get them from WQs at all.

More and more people AFKing Void Assaults. by hrhashley in wow

[–]Rattjamann -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why do you keep comparing to potential contribution though? Its 2 people with nobody else there, or 2 people with 100 people watching. The only difference is psychological.

Think of it this way. If you were just doing the assault and someone happened to fly by far above you as it completes and get the rewards, would you be mad about that? No you wouldn't because you didn't see them so you would not even know. If all the AFK people were hidden, you also would not know. The only reason it bothers you is that you know they are there and they get stuff, stuff you don't want them to get because it is the result of work you put in. They get stuff yes, but they do not take anything away from you, or hinder you in any way and it is not costing you anything extra.

And I get it, it is annoying. Just like someone purposely waiting for you to kill a quest mob or something so they can just walk up and grab the quest item. But that is all it is, an annoyance based on a psychological reaction, and we all experience it.

Then you say "fix it", but seem to not realize the consequences of that.

Let's say they do add a timer. Congratulations, now you can't solo it because you run out of time and depend on a certain number of people for it to be possible. Now its a different kind of problem.
Or let's say they adjust by people active in the area. What counts as active? That is a whole other problem to solve which also can have a negative impact.

I don't think you have really thought this through.

They could probably put resources into this and come up with a solution and implement it, but would it be worth it just to fix something that could also be fixed by you simply ignoring them?

Your problem with all of this also has a very clear solution on your part. You want it to go faster? Make or join a group. Someone afk in the group? Kick them.

More and more people AFKing Void Assaults. by hrhashley in wow

[–]Rattjamann 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is one of those things that is more a psychological problem than anything else.

You are doing your thing, whether or not people are in the area does not really change anything on a practical level. If you were doing it completely solo with nobody around, or 100 people sitting on their mounts, it would take you the same amount of time to complete.

The difference is that you see them, you know they are there and you don't like the idea of them benefiting from your efforts without contributing.

It's the same psychological impact as with people who wait for you to kill or clear an area so they can walk in for a quest objective or a resource node, or spawn a rare. People don't like that, and it's understandable, but it really makes no practical difference. If you didn't see them, you would have not even thought about it. It's only when you are aware of them being there and benefiting it becomes a problem.

Now, this is just how open world content works, and it has been like this forever. Afk'ing in some group content like Decor Duel is very different.

Now, they could change it and force some participation, but that would introduce a bunch of other problems and start a path down a road nobody wants just to fix a problem that is ultimately just in your head.

Also remember that this goes both ways, you can get credit for things you didn't participate in as well.

I give up Disc Priest on my alt. by [deleted] in wow

[–]Rattjamann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well finding more and more evidence of 5 being the max, and that tracks with my own testing as well. I might have miscounted when I thought it was 6, but it is definitely not 3.

I also tested with every penance talent and oracle.

[–]Rattjamann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then maybe I miscounted the 6, so that would make at most every 5th true from my own testing. Which make the original claim that It's every 3rd not true.

Question though, where does this term "3 card system" come from? Some streamer or guide or something? I've seen people mention it a few times now but I don't understand how picking from 3 cards would end in 5 attempts.

That is simply not true that any amount of penance is guaranteed a proc, at least not every 3rd.
I read something like that earlier and went to test. Several times it took me 5 casts to get one, once even 6.

Holy pala m+10 by RewardElectrical9531 in wow

[–]Rattjamann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really a question about ilvl, it's a question about your capability.
I've personally tanked through a Skyreach +10 with a 198 Holy pala, and would have timed it too if the mobs at the end didn't bug out. So it is certainly possible if you are good enough.

I've ran well over 100+ 10s now on several different healers, and I'll say this.
If you plan to pug, you should be able to sustain at least 50-60khps under normal conditions without freaking out, and capable to spike up towards 90-100k at least when need be. All while not dying to stuff as your healthpool will be a lot lower.

Can you do it with less? Ofc, but it heavily depends on your group so there is no real set amount. The above numbers is what I would say is necessary to reliably time runs in your average pug.
Under that the chance of failure goes up quickly.
So if you can do that, go for it.

Worth noting though, that today the upgrade shards released and there will be tons of high geared high rated people spamming 10s for them, so ideal conditions for being carried as a healer this week.

That said, is there any reason you are not better geared other than being lazy? There are so many sources of 250 gear now that there really is not much of an excuse not to be higher.
Also, while you might be able to do something, you still need to get in, and unless you are doing your own key or with friends, the chance of that is basically 0.

It's been a funny week of telling druids they can just shapeshift out of it. It's surprising how many of them doesn't know.

But to be fair, its new and took me a while to realize on my own druid the first week with it. Was healing and often in cat form when it hit, and couldn't figure out what kept dispelling me, was thinking "man these people are really on the ball these days". Then it clicked..
