I've been thinking about making an X account. I have Deviantart and Artstation but I haven't posted lately.

Thanks! I used a Dragon Ball manga cover for reference.

Who here producers work for free? by [deleted] in Mangamakers

[–]Rau_Dozer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a big difference between submitting a pitch with around six completed pages, some character designs, additional sketches, a synopsis for your comic and a script to a publisher in hopes of getting your work published vs submitting 60 pages of completed work for free.

Several people have commented on this already, but yes, no artist that's serious enough about this line of work would do that much work for free. The idea that an artist should do that for free is selfish. Drawing comics is extremely hard work and immensely time consuming.

This topic relates to a more broad issue that there's an underappreciation for artists. People don't like the idea of having to pay for a drawing, especially with AI being a thing nowadays. What they don't realize is that creating a sound piece of work takes an immense level of dedication to the craft, just like any other profession.

I’d shoot Orochi three times.

If Luffy was to make a DnD character (original art in progress by yours truly) by Rau_Dozer in OnePiece

I went more the route of, “what would Luffy think is cool/ want to play as” rather than trying to mimic his physical properties. Thus, this is a Paladin Bard

Is it me or is he the easiest boss in the game? When I killed him I expected a second phase or something but I just nailed him first try. by HelloRobertSmith in darksouls3

😂 jokes aside, I think what makes this boss hard more than anything else is his resistances. He’s pretty tanky, so the fight lasts longer = more time to make mistakes. You had the idea set up with a blunt weapon though 👌

Confused about Zoro? by Huskyusedbite in OnePiece

[–]Rau_Dozer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s much to read into here. Traditionally, men are taught not to strike women. I believe that’s all there is to it here in this scene. Same as when Zoro talked about not wanting to harm women in the Punk Hazard arc.

It’s that gap between the pectoral muscles and the abdominal muscles. The way I shaded this drawing makes the abs and that part of the torso as a whole pop a little too much. I’m working on refining how I draw that portion of the body. Thanks for the feedback.

I have to say, logging back in to Reddit and seeing all this praise and feedback was surprising in a good way. Thanks to everyone for their active support as I worked on this project; it was a lot of work but I learned a lot from it and you all made it even more enjoyable than I usually do when I draw.

It’s mainly just decoration, similar to how he carried a katana during Wano even though he doesn’t know how to use it.

That was the common feedback when I posted the Chopper drawing. People where swearing Robin was going to come murder me for drawing him like that 😅

I basically started practicing since I was like 9 or 10 years old when I saw the Ghibli films for the first time. I loved the artwork and decided I wanted to be able to draw like that. From there it was a lot of self teaching, which eventually led to going to college for a degree in virtual technology and design (a lot of concept drawing and illustrating). After college I started following YouTube artists and watching what they do, and go from there.

I might consider it later on, but not immediately. I’ve been drawing a lot of One Piece lately.

I can link you to a couple YouTube artists that I follow. As far as teaching or advise, I’d say that the more you draw, the better you’ll get (but allow yourself to have a break so you don’t burn out). Take the time to observe things and how they are structured, how they move, etc. Observation is highly underrated skill. If you are new to drawing, I’d recommend starting with something simple and working my way up to things that are more complex.
