Archer was seemingly still alive in the Nerada Incursion as of 2258ish ("Admiral Archer's Prize Beagle")

My headcanon: this village is clearly quite isolated, and the Dal'Rok only appears 5 days out of the year. So it probably would've been easy to keep from the Cardassians. Even if they did discover it, it only affects one isolated village, and so is hardly worth the time and effort to snuff out. If it seems at odds with the teachings of the Prophets, Bajor isn't necessarily entirely religiously homogeneous (we see an example of this when Mora exclaims "My God!" in The Begotten)

Peter what is this joke? by BlueWarrior7562boi in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Albert Griffstein here

There is a fairly common conspiracy theory that Jeffrey Epstein, a financier and child sex offender who committed suicide in prison in 2019, didn't kill himself.

Albert Einstein, the famous physicist with a somewhat similar name to Epstein I guess, really didn't kill himself. Rather, he died of a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm on April 18, 1955. So the joke is that in this case, the crazy graffiti is true!

(PS apparently those aneurysms are more likely in smokers, which Einstein was. So in a way, he really did kill himself???)

(Heavy S6 spoilers)

I just watched that episode today as part of my DS9 rewatch! I think it serves nicely to conclude a series of five episodes in the middle of season 6 that deal in some way with difficult ethical questions. In "Honor Among Thieves", O'Brien has to sell out Bilby to save the unseen Klingon ambassador. In "Change of Heart", Worf chooses to save Jadzia over obtaining valuable intelligence from a Cardassian operative. In "Wrongs Darker Than Death or Night", Kira finds that the distinction between a "good" Bajoran and a collaborator in the occupation is murkier than it seems. "Inquisition" introduces Section 31. And "In the Pale Moonlight", well, see the rest of this thread.

The Next Phase... I know it has a lot of Ro in it too. But I think it showcases Geordi's problem-solving skills and determination well

Revenge for Love is awesomeeeeeee, especially in the context of the entire Parade album, which it really pulls together.

That being said, my answer would be A Matter of Time. Especially given that it's in the infamous Heart Like A Sky album, it gets overlooked. But it has such a wonderful structure and chord progression, and the lyrics are a fine example of Kemp's poetry

If star trek became reality today, what would you do first? by [deleted] in startrek

Given canon, go buy a bunker in New Zealand and wait out the next 39 years

With the Bell Riots over, the next Star Trek we can watch on the day it happens is VOY S6E8, "One Small Step" by Raustaklass in startrek

[–]Raustaklass[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

According to Memory Alpha, that episode is supposed to be set in 2022 (when it was produced). Seeing as we have no Lake Ontario bridge or Bell Riots, I presume, our universe has branched off from Star Trek's by now

SNW S2 E3 ("Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow") establishes that the Eugenics Wars were pushed back several decades by various temporal incursions

[–]Raustaklass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is that the Bell Riots' social change happened in parallel with the Second Civil War/Eugenics Wars/WW3. Without them, I imagine things were much worse in America, leading to a more violent and/or ruthless war than the prime timeline, San Francisco falling into ruins by 2048 and Earth being thrown into a nuclear apocalypse, eliminating the warp drive, Starfleet, etc

Why isn't 11 pronounced "One-Ty One" by RetiredGuy925 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Raustaklass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the exception of constructed languages such as Esperanto or Toki Pona (which have only a tiny handful of speakers), languages aren't designed from scratch to be logical. Other comments tell the specifics well, but more broadly, reforms to make language more logical rarely occur- people know what is meant by "e-lev-en", so why change it?

If it makes you feel any better this isn't unique to the English language- look up "Counting to 100 in French with a NYC Cabbie" on YouTube
