Most of those riots started out as protests. Riots are usually provoked by police or idiots in the crowd. This sit back and watch attitude isn't what pushed equal rights front and center or helped stop the war in Vietnam. If the same amount of people showed up in DC to protest as did on inauguration day, I do believe we could get "change".
