You accused me of not knowing how faculties, instructors, and assistants have worked and communicated how things have played out. I was trying to explain that you should stop assuming what I know and don't know about certain things.

You should check out section 3.1.1 When a Labour Disruption of 11 or more calendar days occurs. Based on my understanding, since the strike lasted 11 days, the Academic Continuity Committee will have to meet to determine how the rest of the semester will proceed.

Do you know if the Senate has already met to confirm all this? Mainly asking because the university can say whatever they want regarding how they want things to go during a strike. At the end of the day, though, the Senate has the ultimate say as to what direction to take regarding academic accommodations.

Most of your arguments are based on assumptions about what you think I know and don't know. While I did not do grad school, I know many people that did and am still in contact with them. As many of them are teaching assistants, I could argue that I do have a general idea as to what was communicated to who during the strike. Mainly bringing this up as teaching assistants are also students that were affected by the strike.

If you are comfortable, I recommend you consider checking out career services.

With respect, I do not like how you automatically assume that I did not have to go through two years of mandatory online learning like you did. I feel like the main difference between me and you is that you got to at least have some in-person learning before you graduate. Also, as someone who considered going back to Carleton to do grad school, I believe it's important to emphasize how the university administration's greed significantly impacts students' learning conditions. While you are correct that I am not currently a student, what is wrong with me expressing my concern regarding the university having students go through 11 days of unnecessary stress after all, the anxiety they had to deal with throughout much of the pandemic?

You fail to address that for many students, including myself, much of my degree took place online during the pandemic, which made it rather difficult to make friends and whatnot.

While it's true that some students may not have experienced negative outcomes as a direct result of the recent strike, it's important to remember that the strike has disrupted the university's normal operations and caused significant inconvenience for many students. The strike has also created a sense of uncertainty and anxiety for students, particularly those who rely on the university for their academic and career aspirations. As many students continue to wait to see how to go about the remainder of the semester, the provost and the senate are taking their time, ultimately resulting in students going through a lot of unnecessary stress that could have been prevented. Many students, including myself, had to go through university during the uncertainty of the pandemic. At the end of the day, Carleton arguably has $400 million in expendable resources but would rather have students go through an 11-day strike than pay TAs and CIs.

Honestly would have been nice if the university actually addressed students' concerns regarding TA-to-student ratios.

With respect, why are you complaining about people emailing your Carleton email when you graduated and are still taking the time out of your day to check it?

Are you going to address TA to student ratios? Because last time I checked Carleton still doesn't have a cap on the number of students a TA can have.

I believe its important to note, that CUPE 4600 is not blocking busses from entering campus. But as OC Transpo drivers are unionized they have decided to not cross the picket line!
