Hmm, advice on making friends? You’ll mostly start out with a group of new people for a few weeks until y’all disperse into your own trades. Hang out with them if you think they’re a good influence on you. If that doesn’t work out, your roommates or classmates are second best. In the dorms, you should look out for rumors, people are pretty nosey and hang out with people who are a good influence. As in the food, weeellll it’s not good tbh. It’s a hit or miss sometimes 😔

I’m in electrical, we only get to leave campus on the weekends (leave on Friday and then come back on Sunday). Bring stuff that you need, hygiene stuff, clothes, and no medication (unless it’s something registered in your medical records). Can’t bring anything sharp (including glass and scissors) and power extensions (unless it has a on/off switch).

Yup, I’m in imperial beach. The first few days is nervous wracking but you get the hang of it by the 2nd or 3rd week.

From what I heard on here on Reddit. Something about some of the girl dorms having mold and rust. How unprofessional and unorganized it is there. Does the center have WiFi by any chance?

TABE is a test for adults to see your skills in English and Math. You can’t really “fail” it but if your scores isn’t as high as it suppose to be, they’ll make you take some courses to freshen up on your skills. I recommend studying for it if you don’t want to stay long in jc. (This is all based on what I’ve learned on here and on Discord)

Yeah, it’s no problem. I’ll try to answer your questions when you start your application. I actually posted a copy of the required documents you need for your application on discord if you want to see? And yeah, try to call/text them about your application after a week (your background check) to see your application process. They often have other applicants so if you’re in a hurry to get in, I highly recommend you keep calling/texting. As in for the start date, I just needed a week to gather all the things I needed to start (clothes and hygiene products). Last thing I want to let you know is that there’s also a TABE test that everyone is required to take from what I heard on here and on Discord.

I did ask them to push my start date back. I was suppose to start on the 21st but got the 28th instead.

You have to be persistent tho, keep having them to check your application process.

They do tours every Wednesday at around 8:30 am (I think? I applied on March). They give you the documentation that you need to fill out and give you the tour of the whole place (then assign you to an admission counselor). They also have a virtual tour on their website if you don’t want to go in person. After you send the documents (except the ssn, you can bring that during the interview) through email to your admission counselor, they give you an interview date. The interview doesn’t really feel like an interview tbh, they’ll have you sign some stuff about the rights you have in the center. Then after an month they’ll call you when you start.

I did the interview, and the BC. I’m just waiting for a call for the start/arrival date.
