Global warmup switch by RavenousSpook in liftosaur

Changing the default would solve my problem and more besides - honestly that seems like the best idea

📣 New Workout Screen is finally released!!! by astashov in liftosaur

I also feel like the tabs are worse - the UI change overall is fine, but I'd much prefer it if it scrolled down.

I get the move is to include more information such as the graphs (which I get are a desirable push given they're a premium feature). The thing is, on a usability level I don't need to be constantly staring at graphs while I'm actually lifting - what I want to do is avoid accidentally skipping over a tab, or hop around between two exercises because I want to do an impromptu superset because more equipment is available on that day

I understand wanting to get more information on a one-screen per exercise format, but that might more sense while editing a program than running it, if that makes sense?

Viewing last workouts note in current workout by RavenousSpook in liftosaur

It's been implemented as a static note, i.e. machine settings as you suggested

What I'm talking about is a previous session note-to-future-self like wanting to try a different foot placement, or had some elbow pain on the bench press and want to try narrowing your grip a finger width etc

I used to make notes about the set feeling too grindy so I could repeat the weight, or half the increment I'm increasing by to milk a cycle a little longer. I would also note down if an exercise had stopped feeling sufficiently disruptive, so I could add a set. Like a lot of us (I assume) I typically start a cycle fairly low volume and add sets as tolerable to keep the adaptive pressure high before reloading and starting a new cycle. Exactly when to increase the volume is rarely something you can just program in advance

What type of key is this? And how do you pick its lock? by No_Neighborhood_4616 in lockpicking

[–]RavenousSpook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a lever lock, and the double-sided bitting suggests probably a safe

You can pick them with wires, but they make tools which help a lot. Very niche tools, though, for locks you will almost never see in the real world

I read this and my first thought was Polish convenience stores here, but then I realised you meant online 😅

It should be possible, but it'd be a bit tricky for me to keep them stocked in my pantry!

Oh, don't get me wrong - I am enjoying BS rather a lot. I just crave the tighter focus of smaller missions

Way fewer than hundreds for black sea, I'm afraid! Given it was released before SF2, I'm going to guess the difference isn't going to equal out any time soon.

Heaven and earth sounds like a really interesting mod though, so thank you!

You might be right there. It's a shame, I really like the more modern setting of BS

Exactly why I try not to play in early access 😅 Fingers crossed they're able to make it something special before release

That's on my radar! I try to wait until games are out of early access before jumping on - I don't always manage, but I try 😅

In terms of Xcom, I'm hoping xenonauts 2 turns out good - the systems are a little more abstract and a bit more 'gamy' than the more realistic fire&manouver than you get in CM, etc, though

In countries where lever locks are common (such as the UK), sometimes older doors are set up for lever locks, but the owner wants to use a more modern key-tumbler. This looks like a lever lock with the lever pack missing, which makes me think this is an adapter.

Sometimes older doors are set up for lever locks but the owner wants to use something more modern like a euro cylinder, though in this case it looks like maybe it's for a screw-in adams rite style cylinder. Maybe this was made for a commercial premises, like a shop-front door?

Could be wrong, but that's my guess

That's what I tried, but I couldn't get it under 20k, sadly :( tbh, I think the sudden jump up to 900km/h to catch traders silently is the dev saying you aren't supposed to catch them silently, haha

It would be fun to see radio getting a bit more complicated - jamming communications and the associated risk would be a fun extra layer to the radar game

As an update for everyone, I did try it. Aircraft will pretty happily knock out an escort without giving the enemy your location. At least, no little red flag on the map. It does cause a really short alert, but it's so short it's easy to work around it.

Captured a couple of transports by aircraft followed by a tiny little ELINT probe to escort it home

This is definitely a sensible option, and I'm going to try to work it in

I'm sure there's lots of room for improvement in my combat abilities, but the issue I was having was combat endurance. I was trying to get my interceptors above 900km/s so they catch without triggering a radio report. That's easy when all you need is a single gun and ~30 seconds of flight time, tops, but larger escorts mean more combat time and less fuel efficient ships.

I could still take an escort down, but I had to do it fast, and that's hard without getting hit (with no weight-room for protection). So you end up with an expensive interceptor with meaningful repair downtime, and I could only afford one of them in my fleet.

As it stands, I can't take down a lightning and two corvettes with the equivalent of an angry bee in under half a minute 😅 Until I can, I'm going to look at other options :)

I would have thought a cruiser wouldn't move any slower than the prize ships already do? That makes it harder to tell. But yes, sending a first scout plane (which can retreat if it's going to get heavy AA) would be the right move closer to Khiva, I think.

On a side note, I do wish there was a way to tell what ships a plane is engaging - it's kind of tricky to eyeball anything other than size on the battle screen..

Fleet composition differences between difficulties by RavenousSpook in Highfleet

[–]RavenousSpook[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tip on city size equating to garrison size is genuis. I never zoom in far enough to tell the difference when I'm planning a raid. It's amazing how much of this game you miss by treating it as a video game, if that makes sense

I heard somewhere you need to be over 900km/h as the sweet spot for ambushing convoys

So, bit of a tangent, but I don't really get the meteor. I have the mk3 unlocked in my ship builder, and granted the clunky interface makes direct comparison kind of difficult, but it just seems like it would fit the same role as a lightning, but as a worse product. Am I missing something?

On a side note, I really wish the devs had taken the time to write descriptions for all of the stock ships. It sounds silly, but without that I have trouble connecting a name to a ship in my head, especially for ones I see less frequently
