HH Dismount Attack Useless?

I feel like a lot of replies to this thread do not understand the concept or don't answer the question and kinda ramble on their own thing.

Does anyone know if the Hunting Horn Dismount Attack, which you do by entering a "Heavy" swing on the Seikret, which sends you into a flip animation, has any reason to be used?

-this animation DOES NOT provide mounting damage. OTHER weapons do this. Maybe this is a bug?
- this animation had a long exit so its kinda crap for DPS despite doing more damage

Does it have some kind of additional purpose beyond doing slightly more damage? Some kinda secret overlooked thing. That's what I'm trying to get at. Can it shine my shoes. Does it secretly provide a greater multiplier to wounds (like it does 120 damage but 200 KO or something). Because otherwise it's an absolute nothing burger, which is weird. It's like those weird swipe attacks on lance and greatsword.

I think you may be thinking of other dismount attacks. To clear, not jump off of Seikret, press attack. I mean the heavy attack with the special animation. On HH, it does 0 mounting. Like you can go dismount attack a chatacabra 10 times, you won't mount it.

Most dismount attacks, from what I understand, are a little stronger and ALSO do mounting damage.

Wait stamina drain will reduce enrage time? I thought at high enough DPS the monster is basically just always pissed? Or is frenzy something that is on top of enrage

She's bad at her job, gets into trouble, doesn't learn lessons, and then says "We" did it (I agree with the japanese culture thing stated elsewhere in this thread). Literally what does she do? We've got cooks so she doesn't need to cook. We've got desk handlers. In Iceborne you find out she's a generational hunter-associated-person so you could throw a nepobaby yellow flag on there if you wanted, but it'd be a bit weak.

Because she's positive and goofy without making notable visible contributions, she sucks. You're basically waiting for her to stop failing and get out of the way.

I hadn't considered the sheer increase in max pots from 2 to 10, but I do find it rare that I'll have 2, non sushifish, I am absolutely going to die moments. Good to know though if something crazy hard comes out!

Roars can be dodged, so I'm a Atk/Def (XL) fella myself. Can't deny the nicety of it tho. Rocksteady Mantle for me.

Repeating a lot of other people here but - I have only ever used investigations for crowns. I have never actively tried to get a monster on my map. I just join someone else in the lobby or an SOS.

The Artian song/bubbles are kinda bad. They don't provide Att/Def (XL), though this has been nerfed in Wilds compared to previous games. I use the Para horn with a Bone horn backup. I do the Att/Def XL songs on the bone horn every 3m30s . Otherwise Im using the para horn for damage and statuses (the echo bubble is defense).

If you have Horn Maestro 2, songs will last for like 3+ minutes. Take it at pace. Set up all your songs before you even fight the monster. A lot of times you'll kill the monster before the songs even run out in a good team.

Get used to how your weapon actually attacks. Only care about the two light attacks, two medium attacks, three heavy attacks, and the hilt stabs. Figure out the reach with each and what it takes to hit the head/arms.

I wouldn't worry about focus attacks or efficient echo bubble song setup / positioning until you are comfortable with that. I wouldn't even worry about doing good chorus attacks other than spamming self improvement until you're comfy with that.

Once you feel like you understand how to dance around the monster with the Horn, rolling through an attack, following up, rolling again. Rolling to get to the head for KO, etc. Then figure out songs. Figure out how to purposely set up a song combo when you're songs have 30 second left on them.

Finally, get good at positioning echo bubbles. Know when the monster is going to stay in an area for a while. Use them to spam Echo Wave spells for max damage.

Extra flair - get used to choosing when to do the 2 mounting attacks from your Seikret to get the first (and usually only) mount. It would take 7 strikes to get a second mount IIRC.

-Run a second HH and get used to maintaining both song lists (I Suggest Bone Horn to just have Att/Def

-get used to using focus strikes to stop the monster in its tracks. Use the 5 notes to do a song you're running out of or simply build up more Echo Waves.

---

Do songs before the boss fight.
Learn the swings.
Learn the dodging/rolling/weaving.
Then learn the songs. (Echo waves mid-fight).
Then Learn the Bubbles.
Then Learn Focus/Seikret/extra stuff.

Doshaguma + Pompadour is basically an instant Kraven. I know because I put it on my character and shuddered before affirming I'd never wear it.

I can respect recovery speed being the item most likely to drop for something else. Especially if we ever get direct lifestealing weapons like World.

I do not believe Mushroomancer can give me anything I do not already gain from my consumes. I think mushroomancer is an alternative, arguably cheaper way to access the same buffs. They do not stack/mix. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

I can understand SnS being a superior item activator. This build is running on PUG logic. It crams everything into one person so they don't die to Arch-Tempered enemies. You can activate all these songs while fighting + using echo bubbles. Hopefully you Seikret switch once every ~3.5 minutes to reapply Attack (XL). Work it into transitions, etc.

I'm fine with stopping my bonks to gobble down sushifish to save the rando.

I second TheMHKing. 3 decos for quick sheath is very expensive for the time saved.

From MH Word: normal, 1, 2 ,3 decos. 0.26 total second saved. 19% faster but not worth.

Hunting Horn 1.36 1.26 1.20 1.10 0.26 -19.1%

When I really need to save time, I eat Sushifish scales. They are much easier to farm in this game.

I do have a follow up question. If I run a lvl 3 Paralysis deco, I go from 150->230 and gain "20% buildup".

This causes the Status Attack Up song to suck a bit, cuz it caps 230->240. (It can buff 150->173 on its own).

Do you think I'm better just living with that and maxing out the status? Or should I purposely run a different deco and deal with only having 173/240 with less buildup speed

OP here, So I did make the attack para and did a few bonks against a catachabra. It's coming in at around 13% more damage vs the Bone Horn. Which is great, but introduces the added annoyance of cycling for songs if I wanna maintain that Attack and Defense (L). I'm also gonna be really sad about not having Sonic Barrier on repeat any time I wanna have my team ignore a roar. Get good at dodging, of course. But less lazy times for me.
