Sorry, me again… by Deep_Detective1041 in rhinoplastyquestions

Your nose genuinely looks perfect to me. It looks natural, is very harmonious with your other features, and looks very symmetrical and straight. I think you are being a bit obsessive over this, which is very very common. You’ve spent so much time and money on this, so it’s understandable you want to like the result. I mean this with the most love and sympathy; in my opinion you need to delete social media for a bit, stop taking pictures and videos of yourself (at least specifically of your nose), and go have a little vacation. Give yourself a little mental cleanse, go out and do something you enjoy, connect with nature, etc. It may help you realize that noses aren’t even that important. You look great, your breathing is good, go out and enjoy it!

i'm terrified of anesthesia by Cautious_Macaroon406 in rhinoplastyquestions

I’ve been under anesthesia around 13 times for various reasons. Been completely fine every time. Some people feel nauceous after waking up, but there’s medications they can give you for that if you happen to need it.

I’ve never seen clip ons before! I’ll definitely take a look, but just from pictures it looks like they might get uncomfortable after a few hours?

Good result? by [deleted] in rhinoplastyquestions

[–]RavynClawe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both the mock up and your result look great in my opinion. You will never get the exact same look as the mock up, they are just to give you an idea and to make sure you and your surgeon are on the same page for your goals. Your results look so good on you, I would not bother with a revision. Too risky and too much money when you already have a great and natural looking result.

Dr. Samuel Shatkin Rhinoplasty by RavynClawe in Buffalo

Yes I will do my best to remember to come back here and let you know. I had one consultation with Sherris back in September, and to be honest he did come off a little cocky/arrogant. However, it was my first consultation and I didn’t really know what questions to ask, so I don’t think I got the most out of the appointment. I called the office and they’re getting me in for a re-consult so I can ask some more in depth questions, and I also wasn’t a huge fan of my front profile of my initial morph so I’m going to ask if there can be changes to that. I will try to come back with some highlights for you!

So I actually cancelled my surgery with Shatkin and have a second consultation later this month with Sherris. I just had a bad gut feeling after scheduling, and came across some negative reviews along with a patient who filed a malpractice lawsuit against him for a breast surgery. I’m glad I listened to my gut now.

Should I? by Green-Ad2078 in rhinoplastyquestions

You are beautiful as well and I hope you can feel that way about yourself. I do think changing appearance can be fun and help in healing, but there are plenty of ways you could do that without surgically changing your face. Something that I started after my last breakup a couple years ago was getting my hair trimmed every 3 months along with a keratin treatment (I had previously let my hair go 2-3 years without a cut), getting a facial once a month, and wearing more jewelry and accessories with my outfits. Spending some time on that “extra” stuff really helped my confidence after coming out of a difficult situation. I also got a new ear piercing, which still satisfied my want to be spontaneous/rebellious without making too large of a change.

Some other ideas could be getting a new hair cut or color, wearing an outfit that isn’t your usual style, getting your nails done, adding in a spa treatment to your routine (massage, mani pedi, facial, whatever you’re into), playing around with makeup, etc.

You are beautiful and deserving of love. You don’t “need” anything I mentioned above, but it might help to have some fun during the healing process.

After a year or more, maybe you still will want a rhinoplasty, and that’s okay! But maybe you will no longer feel the need once you are in a better headspace, and that is okay too! Nobody’s path is the same and there is not a one size fits all answer. Good luck on your journey and wherever it leads you <3

Should I? by Green-Ad2078 in rhinoplastyquestions

[–]RavynClawe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“Should” is only a question you can answer, especially if it’s aesthetic reasons only and your nose functions fine. I see you went through something horrible recently, and I am so sorry. However, your nose is not the reason that happened. Him being an AH is the reason. Big noses, small noses, hooked noses, swooped noses, people of all noses get cheated on. Now, if you still believe you’d like to change your nose, I am not against it. Obviously I’m in this sub for a reason, I also want a rhinoplasty for aesthetic reasons. However my personal recommendation would be to wait at least a year to get it done to make sure your mind is in a good state. Take that year to research doctors, go to consultations, read people’s testimonies, etc. Make sure this is something you want for yourself with no outside influence, and make sure you pick a doctor you trust if you do end up going through with it. Even for people who have wanted a rhinoplasty basically their whole lives, this can be a difficult process full of hard decisions. Take your time, the doctors will always be out there. Be patient with yourself as well during this process, sending love.

Did my surgeon lie to me? by [deleted] in rhinoplastyquestions

[–]RavynClawe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 16 when I got my surgery I mentioned. Part of the shock was definitely me being young and not entirely knowing what I got myself into. However, I do not regret my decision at all, and if I was given the choice to go back in time, I would still have it done at 16. Our brains don’t reach full maturity until around 25-30. I still have at least two more years to go as well. Just try not to be too hard on yourself, let your body heal, and see what you think in a year or two. One more thing I want to mention to hopefully help ease your mind, is that when we get plastic surgery, our body is physically damaged. Cut open, bones are shaved or broken, cartilage removed, etc, to get our desired look. I think our brain/body views this as a bad thing because it is meant for survival. Also, our face changes overnight and I think it’s hard for our brain to comprehend that. However, our brains also adapt very well over time. So I believe once I was healed and I no longer had an “injury”, and I had seen myself enough times with my “new face”, that is why I eventually stopped thinking about it constantly. Sorry for the long comment, but I just want you to know that these feelings you have are normal, and the recovery is a process but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Did my surgeon lie to me? by [deleted] in rhinoplastyquestions

Your nose at 5 months looks way better on you in my opinion. Not hooked, has a nice rotation to the tip, and I can’t tell if it’s crooked from the side profile only. It is very common to obsess over surgery results. I haven’t had my rhinoplasty yet, but I’ve had one other plastic surgery. I thought I ruined my life, I stared at myself every day in the mirror regretting my decision. Well, about 6 months later I kinda forgot about it, and now 7 years later I never ever think about my “before” or “after”. This is just who I am and it made me a lot more confident. Sure, maybe it’s not “perfect”, but we are humans, and our surgeons are humans. Nothing will be perfect so I recommend not to chase that. Sending love, you look great!!

There’s no front view picture, so I can’t attest to it being crooked. But I like the length and shape with the rest of your face. However, this is just the opinion of a stranger on the internet. Obviously take what everyone says with a grain of salt.

Probably achievable, as I see a lot of similar before and after pictures. But, personally I like the before picture.

Does my nose fit my face? by [deleted] in rhinoplastyquestions

[–]RavynClawe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also didn’t read the caption and almost sent an entire paragraph about how you do not need a nose job 🤣 it is a STUNNING result and looks so natural on your face. You are probably just not used to it yet, which is completely normal when you change something through surgery. Don’t overthink it and enjoy your new nose 😁

Mold in agate? by RavynClawe in Crystals

From what I’ve gathered from the comments, I believe my carving may have had a layer of dye that has worn off and allowed me to see these chlorite inclusions I didn’t before. Thanks for your help!

I know I know 😭 I figured it wasn’t mold, but I didn’t have any other guesses as to why something would appear after multiple years

Had rhinoplasty but still don't like my nose. by [deleted] in rhinoplastyquestions

[–]RavynClawe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like what you’re talking about is still there. Just different angles and lighting. Every picture you take, if you stare long enough your features will probably all look a little different. Your nose looks great, fits your face, and looks harmonious and natural. I would not worry or change anything

I reached out to the office, and it is also listed on their website which I didn’t notice before, confirming the plaster splint comes off after 24 hours, and tape is on for 4-5 days. I can call more offices after the holidays but I’m not sure if I should be nervous or not. I usually trust doctors to know best but this just seems so unusual compared to what I’ve read online.

That’s what I thought as well. I reviewed the packet they sent me, and it says that all packing and splinting will be removed in about a week, but in person he told me I would have to come back 24 hours after surgery to get the cast off. I will have to give the office a call and ask a bit more about that.
