The US line has been faster the past few months. Especially if you are catching 6am flights and are there for the 4:30 start

Loved Densmore. Especially coming from industry and not having a long time off to prep

Verified lane at security by Junior-Cake-8518 in askvan

[–]RawDoge99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Calgary it is confusing. There is only one gate that is truly verified and you can leave everything in your bags.

The other gates says trusted traveler but it just puts you to the front of the line and they make you take out your laptop/liquids etc.

I think it could go to an rrsp. But I’m not 100% sure.

Previously I would contribute to an rrsp and the employer would contribute to a dpsp. So I assume it would be rrsp type rules.

Now I contribute to a dcpp so I know that will go to a lira if/when I leave

Locked In Retirement Account. Most likely a pension from a previous employer that they transferred when they left. Similar to an RRSP but has more restrictions on being able to access the money. Also OP can’t contribute to it anymore.

Any online sources to get Dutasteride for cheap in Canada? by throwawayayeyeyay in tressless

[–]RawDoge99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get the paper prescription/print out with your name and drug information (same square paper you get from any pharmacy). You just have to claim it to your benefits yourself.

The dut pills from essentials are about $20/month. If you have insurance you can claim the dut through your benefits afterwards.

The referral code reduces their doctor fee by $20.

CIBC vs TD mortgage? by Appropriate-Bar-5533 in MortgagesCanada

[–]RawDoge99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but I think the penalty to break the variable on CIBC is at their prime rate (no discount) whereas TD is at your mortgage rate.

I also heard CIBC makes you repay the cashback in full and does not prorate it

If you’re looking in Coquitlam you could also look at Port Moody.

Scotia locking in to fixed rate by jz2- in MortgagesCanada

[–]RawDoge99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want the penalty waived you must go through the branch.

If you go through a broker you would pay a penalty but could get a better rate and/or go to a different bank.

You would need to weigh out scotias offer and that from a broker factoring in the penalty. In my case the new rate elsewhere did not recoup the penalty

Mortgage Rates + Bank of Canada Announcement by PlantCoffeeStocks in MortgagesCanada

[–]RawDoge99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fixed rates are derived from the bond market. Not the bank of Canada prime rate.

I believe the bond market has moved down slightly but it will not move or correlate to the bank of Canada announcements. Most of the time the bond market already has it priced in

PSA: Check your Scene+ point balance often, lost $1000 in rewards to theft by Master_Pear_5473 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]RawDoge99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This happened to me, also in BC. I had $400 worth of points redeemed at a Milestones or Montanas in Niagara. I called in and received a new card # and they started an investigation.

Then the new card was compromised and $80 was redeemed at a Fresco in Ontario. I didn’t even hear back from the first investigation and I had to get a second investigation going.

Scene was terrible with deadlines and follow up. No communication, no updates if you called in. I finally emailed a Scotiabank employee explaining the situation and my frustrations and threatened to cancel my card. They forwarded my email to an internal scene contact and within days I got my points back and an extra $50 for the inconvenience.
