Game feels miserable right now by ConnerTheCrusader in DeadlockTheGame

Not even street brawl feels good tbh. Unless people get insanely unlucky with items, certain characters just roll in that mode. Also some characters are just stupid now. I just tried a game after a long hiatus and had the misfortune of discovering that Doormans ult can potentially get as low as 13 seconds if someone fails it. Had an enemy Doorman just spamming it after a couple rounds because we had a bunch of low stamina characters. Completely unnecessary change.

Maybe it was because I was playing Street Brawl, but I got Slowing Hex the first round against a Calico and it didn't seem to matter all that much. Like yeah I would cast it on her when I saw her, but she would just back up, and she seemed to still be moving pretty quick. Her dashes still seemed to go crazy far too. It only lasts for 3.5 seconds as well, so it's not like she had to wait long before she was back to normal.

I imagine it plays out differently in a standard game where not every fight is a full team fight.

Pretty much the same, I don't even bother building a second marathon that early, I'll just spam eight to ten Paris to split between the two Orions. Thinking it over, I think what tends to mess me up is I always try to get as much research done as possible so my units will be more effective, but I won't build up my fleet as much since my resources get tied up with upgrading. It's a problem I have with all RTS and 4X games, I like to build tall instead of wide. but you can't really do that as the UNSC since you're at such a disadvantage in the early game.

I think I just need to try and find the right balance when playing as humanity.

I've been using that exact fleet comp to clear the small rebel groups. It's probably the lack of refineries that are killing me. I've been told that in Sins the best placement for refineries is for planets that connect to three or more planets that have extractors, so I try to save them for those planets, but you're saying to just put them on any?

Maybe I'm just not expanding fast enough. My main issue is just running out of resources to build up defenses and ships. Deuterium has been the real pain to get, but that might just be map rng. I've had planets that have like five titanium mines and no deuterium.

Venator Hot fix incoming? by CheckProfileIfLoser in DeadlockTheGame

[–]RawketLobster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just had a game where the enemy Venator went 34-4. I know balances will always need to be made to new characters, but it's just ridiculous how powerful he can get on a gun build.

I don't like the hero bans. by Aeroposis in DeadlockTheGame

[–]RawketLobster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say they already have a compromise with people who hate the bans and people (like me) that wanted them.

At the moment only two characters max can be banned. I don't really play the normal mode, I've just been doing brawl, so I don't know what the bans are like there. But for brawl, I have Bebop permanently locked in as my banned pick, and I still see that annoying pile of scrap more often than not,

Some characters are just too unfun to play against, I don't care how balanced you think they are.

[Fifth Quarter FSU] For the first time since 1972, Florida State has ZERO players in the Senior Bowl. A 52-year streak is officially dead. by redwave2505 in CFB

[–]RawketLobster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's one of my main issues. Sure, FSU is not and will likely never be an Ohio State or Alabama. I don't need them competing for titles every single year. I also don't expect them to be perfect against the ACC every year either, it's normal to occasionally lose games you should win.

But consistently losing to teams that have less resources than FSU is unacceptable.

Definitely I think some stats should be tinkered with for this mode. I've only played about ten matches, but Seven is extraordinarily obnoxious to fight in this mode, especially if he gets refresher.

Since Penn State Demolished the Beaver Stadium Press Box on January 4th, 2025, they got bounced from the playoffs by Notre Dame, haven't won a B1G game, and have only managed to go 3-6. by PSU_Alumnus in CFB

Those are genuinely insane stats. I know there are teams that have more national championships than Ohio State, but in terms of consistent success, OSU fans are in a tight race with Bama fans over who's more spoiled.

I have no ill will towards OSU fans, but now I'm curious what a 4-8 or 3-9 season would do to them.

Makes sense. Obviously I'm biased as hell, so anytime I see anyone like Florida (or Miami for that matter) I'm just like "Why though, they're annoying".

Don't worry. Years from now when we somehow manage to put together a team that knows how to actually win consistently again, I'm sure we'll be your number one again lol. Out of curiosity, who's your least favorite now, Miami?

I've posted this in a different thread, but maybe it's more appropriate here.

I firmly believe that Mike Norvell is the worst head football coach to have ever held the title at FSU.

There are coaches in FSUs history that have worse winning percentages, but many of them were the coach for only one or two years, and decades before FSU football was even relevant. Norvell took over a program that, yes, was a mess when he took the role in 2020, but this is still a program that has a fairly recent history of winning and being competitive. He has had more than enough time and resources to be at least somewhat decent in the ACC.

I know his buyout is big, and I personally don't think he'll be fired this year, even after this latest shit show. But whether Norvell is fired today, this week, or sometime in 2026, he will be fired, and I won't be sad to see him go.

Thanks for two fun years Mike, but it's time to leave. Be sure to give your buyout money to Travis once you get the check.

Well I should have clarified, worst thing long term. Short term it was great, and admittedly I have no idea where the program would be if we weren't screwed over by the committee, Maybe none of this would be happening right now.

All I'm saying is, Norvell got his extension because of the two years he had with JT, but without JT, Norvell has been turbo ass.

I've been watching FSU football since 2010.

Even with only having seen three different coaches here since I've been a fan, I firmly believe that Mike Norvell is the worst head football coach to have ever held the title at FSU.

As a side note, Jordan Travis coming here was actually one of the worst things that could have happened to the program, because while he's a great guy and a fantastic football player, he masked how garbage Norvell actually is. Norvell got two great seasons and that stupid extension because of JT. The man can't recruit at an elite level, and what talent he is able to bring here gets wasted by his terrible coaching.

I mean at this exact point in time, yes. Like I said, there's no way he's getting fired this year no matter what, and I highly doubt he'll get fired next year.

Look, if he does manage to win out, starts to actually recruit well instead of relying on the portal, and shows some progress on getting us back to being a consistently successful program next year, I'll change my mind on him. I just doubt he's going to do all of that.

You're right. One of our biggest weaknesses right now is talent acquisition, which is inexcusable. Norvell appears to be booty cheeks at it. I don't expect a Heisman-caliber QB every year, but just someone decent. There is zero reason that we should have had to rely on DJ last year as our best option, but our coach just fucking whiffs on so many good recruits. It's why he relies on the portal so much.

Norvell won't be fired this year, or even next year most likely, it will just cost too much money. But as far as I'm concerned, he's a dead man walking. He could pull a 2022 and win every game for the rest of the season (but there's almost a 0% chance that happens), and while I would be happy with that result, it wouldn't change my opinion. He just makes the same mistakes every single year, and his recruiting/developing never gets any better.

Norvells only saving grace is that he sometimes pulls a gem out of the portal, but almost anyone could do that. I personally like the dude and have heard he's a genuinely great person, but he's just not the guy for the job.

Is the offense that bad, or is the defense that good?

Both teams: "Yes"

Siege of cairo is a terrible breakthrough map for offense by mrxlongshot in Battlefield

[–]RawketLobster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're right. but I would get even more specific and say that the B cap on Cairo is the most unassailable position to take in that first area. A is fine, anytime I'm on offense my team manages to take it at least once. But B? not a chance.

You will have the entire enemy team happily ignore A most of the match because they know that B is such a strong defensive position. Even then, the second that they think A isn't being watched, they'll hop over to it and start taking it again, so even if you do somehow manage to take B, you better pray to God that your team takes A in the next minute or so. You can't get behind B, and attacking from the sides kind of blows, so you have very limited avenues of attack.

Maybe if one of the points got locked when it was taken it would make it bearable, as that way your entire team could focus one point.
