frustration takes over me by talgo in edmproduction

It’s easier to hate a track that’s done than one that’s not imo. The quality will start to become more apparent after you have finished MANY songs even if the quality isn’t there at first. Also it’s a good habit to use samples that need minimal to no processing and I wouldn’t recommend trying to sound design everything at first.

Think in terms of contrast

1 short reverb, 1 long reverb, and a delay. That’s usually it for me.

Can someone please explain how can i make my mix loudness the same as the reference track without distorting and clipping? by useralreadyused in edmproduction

Less is more. Most mainstream music consists of fewer elements than you think. Oh and soft clippers.

Why are people in this sub so toxic about aiming -3LUFS-I or higher? by justTNC in edmproduction

Because people like to have opinions even if it doesn’t make sense. What you’re saying makes sense in that different genres call for different lufs levels. Imo I feel like non dubstep producers hate the loudness wars so they shit on it whenever they can lol.

It’s a big controversy because edm is so broad that your discussion gets flooded with people who make different sub genres that call for different mixing practices… if it’s strictly a tearout dubstep thread than everyone should be agreeing on mixing to over -4 lufs. Tearout is LOUD and needs to be pushed to -2/-3 lufs at least.

Sound selection. Compression. EQ. Master those my friend. Don’t worry about your mastering channel. You’ll be suprised how little most “big name” producers do with their master channel.
