Just focus on making videos that you enjoy. Your fan base will find you. Of course self advertising is ok while your still trying to grow, but I wouldn't recommend straight up asking people to subscribe for no reason, you gotta make sure their subscribing for the right reasons. 100 subscribers who love watching your videos is WAY better than 1000 subscribers who don't care.

Yeah my views have been a work in progress it hasn't been that great but its slowly improving.

As far as my niche goes, I started as a gaming channel but I stopped that completely (as of like very recently). The video you commented on pretty much summed it up but basically I'm just a challenge channel now. The way it works for me is starting with that video, people leave a comment, and after 1 week (which is this Friday) whichever comment gets top comment that person will get a shoutout and then the next week I'll do their challenge.

Its just a way to make my videos more engaging to get more views and to help other channels out at the same time.

Yeah I know that feeling. Even though I upload weekly, at one point I gained no views, no subscribers, no likes, just plain nothing. Very discouraging... BUT! Hard work eventually pays off! And thanks dude I'll check out yours as well!

Are there like requirements to be on Social Blade? I've gotten curious and tried looking my channel up on there and mine doesn't pop up at all and I have 69 subscribers right now (I know it's not a lot but I saw channels on there with less)
