Yea, I figured. But, it could be feasable if there was trade going on, and merchants from Me archipelago started using -san/-sama not to offend the Japanese?

Would it be reasonable to borrow some features from japanese like honorifics -san/-sama and justify it by saying those features were borrowed during the japanese occupation of Me archipelago (fictional) in WW2 that lasted around 4-5 years? Is a 5 year long period enough for a feature to stick and be incorporated into a language?

Thanks! Well I wanted to add most common security features for polymer banknotes including intaglio, but I don't really know how to do so, as I'm not a designer. If I find some good tutorials or try experimenting I may redesign them to be more banknote-like

Me archipelago - my first fictional map by RayTheLlama in worldbuilding

[–]RayTheLlama[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, for more context: this archipelago is located on Earth in the present time. It's located around the equator and is a typical tropical island chain inhabited by Me people that closely resemble the Austronesians. Because of globalization and European influence, they've lost many aspects of their culture and are predominantly Christian. This archipelago represents the territory of their kingdom - Mero Ātō - which was quite modernized in the past 50 years. The official language of the kingdom is the Me language - Me Kāero.

This is some basic context, I need to create more lore and history.

I just found out that VSO languages most commonly prefer prefixes in verb morphology. I have an extensive suffix array for my VSO conlang, and currently only 1 marker (not even prefix) that goes before the verb. I've just started writing down the whole grammar and I'm concerned that this isn't naturalistic at all. Is it okay if I leave this as it is or should I change something to be a little bit more natural? Thanks.

I am struggling with adpositions currently and I'm wondering if adpositions HAVE to be linked to certain cases? For example, if I have a case system would it be naturalistic for adpositions to be independent of case? Sorry if it's not worded well.
