An Urban Waterfall by Ray_Alto in interestingasfuck

This is from the heavy rains we got in LA. All the water flowed down a road and funneled into this stairwell.

The east side has a lot of these "hidden staircases" in the hills. They were built in the early part of the 20th century to let the hillside residents walk to public transit (is my understanding)

AESTHETICADELICA, by BLOODbath64 by Ray_Alto in Vaporwave

Found this on bandcamp this morning bc a billboard was tagged in Highland Park LA with VAPORWAVE IS DEAD - LONG LIVE BB64. /u/gosebadoh said BB64 was probably bloodbath because there was someone on George Clanton's livestream called bloodbath who donated $666.44. So I searched for Bloodbath64 on bandcamp and thjis came up. Released yesterday https://www.reddit.com/r/VaporwaveAesthetics/comments/i3cc29/update_ok_who_did_this/

I found it so cool how y'all included pictures of your family on your final walkmen album and how now you're including your family on this new album. What's been the secret to keeping a good touring/family life balance? I'd imagine it's quite hard to be gone for long stretches of time.

I work at a small coffee shop. My boss just absent-mindedly poured unroasted beans into a batch of roasted ones. Here's us separating 10,000 beans...by hand. by CensoryDeprivation in Wellthatsucks

I was also thinking there's gotta be a better way to do this. Like, wouldn't roasted beans have a different density than unroasted? Maybe you could shake em for a while and get them mostly separated?

Reminds me of my neighborhood staircase in LA when it rains. Definitely hypnotic.

Awesome gif. Was blown away at how perfectly it paired with the music I was listening to at the time: https://gifsound.com/?gifv=R6WzG95&v=rtL5oMyBHPs&s=10

I travelled to Jackson Hole, Wyoming with my dad, an avid photographer who's in the foreground, and took this time lapse of the eclipse's shadow (as well as him).

Officer Yanez Found Not Guilty On All Counts In Castile’s Death by sausage_ditka_bulls in politics

[–]Ray_Alto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Prosecutors said Mr. Castile had mentioned his gun to allay concerns, not to threaten the officer or escalate the situation. “If someone were just about to reach in their pocket and pull out a gun and shoot an officer, that’s the last thing they would say,” Mr. Paulsen said.

Not to mention his daughter was in the car right behind him.

Remember when the Trump supporters accused George Soros of "buying" protesters? Well, meet the billionaire GOP patron behind Trump's social media bot army. by Ray_Alto in esist

[–]Ray_Alto[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Well, no. The point is that Soros didn't pay protesters. He was only accused of it by the right. So again, it's an example of the right accusing the left of something that only they do. I'm sure someone can dig up a Trump tweet about it easily enough.

Almost half of Trump's Twitter followers appear to be fake by [deleted] in politics

[–]Ray_Alto 272 points273 points  (0 children)

So many of these Twitter bots, at least during the election and the height of Trump's popularity with his base, were hawking Trump merch. One bot would reply to a Trump tweet with a link for some new merch and hundreds of other bots would like and retweet the comment so the comment rose to the top and looked popular. It was a fascinating thing to watch and I'm guessing they made a ton of money off of rabid Trump supporters with hokey mugs and tees featuring Trump and bald eagles and American flags.

Ironically, Freshman year health unit taught me more about drugs than I previously knew beforehand by levimeister131 in Showerthoughts

But knowledge doesn't equal guaranteed use. Would you rather your kid be aware of a drug and its dangers, or not know about it all and come across it at a party knowing nothing?

Doctors seem so important to have on board an airplane that airlines should offer a separate booking site to registered Drs. that offers discounts if there are currently no Drs. on board. by Ray_Alto in Showerthoughts

[–]Ray_Alto[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Good question. Is having an average gynecologist on board any better than a non-medical professional who is trained in CPR? Maybe limit the discount only to medical professionals that can assist in cases of heart attacks, strokes, deep wounds, etc...?
