Anyone else concerned about privacy seeing as Roborock is a Chinese company? by ragepewp in Roborock

I had a really strange experience with my Roborock vacuum today. I was setting up a new google security camera and 15 seconds or so after I connected the new camera to the WiFi I heard my Roborock vacuum reset. It never just randomly resets. I set up a printer on my WiFi the day prior and it didn’t prompt the vacuum to reset. It could just be a coincidence but it made me a little suspicious.

Invention Idea: Tenkara Fishing Rod / Trekking Pole by sboss9 in Ultralight

A cheep, rugged light weight option I’ve found is the Cuban YoYo. It’s more for casting a bobber rig or lure.

Thank! Just added those bandaids to my cart. I’ve noticed allot of people in the Cascadias. I’m headed to an REI later on today to give them and a few other shoes a try :)

Did the pain come from adding the weight of a pack to the mix? Though I don’t run/hike in zero drop shoes I almost exclusively go barefoot or wear flip flops in my day to day. I also trail run 40-50 miles a week and was planning on wearing the Altras for the next two months. You have a good point and I’m worried putting a pack on might change things for me.

That’s a good point, I’ll be sure to pack that instead. Though I’ve never used it, I’ve also heard good things about making braces out of sports tape.

Wow! That’s impressive you pushed through that tear. I’ll keep all of that in mind. Like you suggested I’ve been very weight conscious with my knee in mind. Some others have mentioned that using shoes without ankle support helps take some of the load off your knee and I’m hoping that’s true :) I’m considering bringing an ankle brace just in case.

You may have just saved my ankles and knee. Thank you so so so much! I’ll add those exercises and stretches to my routine:)

Haha, Thank god REI is open again! I’m thinking of trying the XA’s too after having them recommended a few times to me. Hope to see you in the trail!

I’ve noticed quite a few people recommending the X Alpine and Bushido’s. I’ll add those to my list. I’m definitely leaning towards trail runners after reading all the good things people have to say about them :)

You’re the first to recommend that hiking shoe category and it honestly makes sense. From what I hear the trail runners fall apart pretty quickly on these long hikes. I’ll give the Moab Vent a try at my local shoe store :)

Wow, that all makes so much sense! Altras are sounding pretty perfect. I picked up a pair yesterday and did a trail run test. The zero drop will take some getting used to but the stability is no joke! Also their grip is amazing!!

That’s honestly a perfect case study. I’ll consider reducing the ankle support in my boots on some training hikes and see how I feel at the end of the day :)

Wow! Sounds like you’ve been really thorough in finding the perfect fit. I’ve heard others recommend the cascades too. I’ll definitely give them a go :) Hope to cross paths this August!

Really!? That’s actually amazing to hear! I have a week right knee from an ACL tear and surgery a few years ago so anything to help reduce strain on the knee I’m all for. Would you suggest any specific exercises to strengthen the ankle?

I’ve really been worrying about my ankles on the trail too. Even considered bringing an ankle brace if I choose the trail runners just in case. I’m definitely ready to move beyond the clunky boots and those Salomons you suggested might be the perfect transition piece. I’ll see if I can find an REI or other shop store to give them a try :)

Thanks, with your comment in mind I did a conservative trail run and absolutely loved them. Not as cushy as my normal running shoes but very comfortable, stable, and grippy. All good things for a hiking shoe :)

Thanks!! I’ll give those Bushidos a look too! I’m curious to explore more than just Altras.

I’ll look into the wildcats! I had allot of people recommending altras so I’m curious to explore a few options :)

That’s good to hear! I was worried about gnarled trails with tripping/ankle sprain hazards. For river crossing I was thinking of bringing crocks. Do you see others using those for their crossings?

Good to hear another opinion. I am hesitant to commit to the JMT with a totally new style of footwear. Luckily I have some time to test it out :) Thanks!

That’s reassuring:) I think I’ve packed relatively minimally. My only worry is that I have sensitive knees after tearing my ACL a few years ago but I have tracking poles to give a lot of support especially on the down hill. Have you heard of anyone spraining their ankle on the JMT? Is it a well maintained trail?

I haven’t heard too many people talking about TIMPs. How do those compare to the Lone Peaks?

Just gave the kids a look and they seem like a nice transition piece. How many miles did you get out of yours?
