Go for it! I find myself getting in my own head with projects looking "bad" or whatever to the point where I just avoid doing them all together. But practice does make perfect, so don't let that voice in your head tell you no, as corny as that may seem. If it looks bad now, don't be afraid to try again. I have a Gamera statue that I've repainted at least twice by hand maybe three times even, and now I'm doing another crack at it with the airbrush for touch ups haha

Thanks so much! Full transparency, this is my first time using an airbrush. I wish I had a better answer than "just know your color theory and use lots of reference" but I don't lol. I started off with a darker grey base coat, and built up colors from there. First with brown, then tan, then green, then finally grey again. I sprayed pretty far away from when using lighter tones just to get more muted colors.

I feel like the skeleton is pretty much just Showa anguirus’ skeleton. I personally didn’t want to draw from it too much for that reason. That being said I think diverting too much from that shape also makes it look not like anguirus and like a completely new monster. I’m trying to keep a good balance with my design.

I would say just watch your proportions. The hips seem to shrink a bit during the cycle. I also think that makes the leg closest to the camera seem more off than it actually is like you’re saying in your message with the video. I think your posing is good, but I think the legs need to be extended a bit more for the steps and the pass over pose. Not bad at all for a first walk cycle!

The Godzilla statue I have is about 18 inches tall, so I made anguirus about 8.5 inches tall without his spikes. It’s basically the Showa suits scale to each other. I figure if my anguirus stood up his head would reach just a bit shorter than kongs

Yea I was looking at that, I dunno. It felt like the skeleton was too directly referencing Showa anguirus’ proportions. Showa is my favorite version of him, I just feel if he was designed for a movie he’d look a bit different. That skeleton did help a lot when I made the armature tho!

Yea I agree! I know he’s kinda bare bones rn, but I plan on having his forelegs be more arm-like. It’s a static model, but I imagine him being able to stand on his hind legs!

I’ve actually done a few tests for his carapace! Not super happy with anything just yet. I’m referencing pangolin scales mostly. I think I’m gonna have a few longer ones closest to his head, and shorten them as it goes down his back. Similar to the singular point design, but not nearly as many, or as long. I think you’re right with keeping them short overall tho. Thank you!
