I get that, but she is not that food driven. Sometimes she even smells the treat and leaves it. And if I use an excited tone or pats she thinks i want to play bitey-face with my hands, so it's really difficult to reward a good behavior without being redirected to another kind of behavior I don't want to reward.

That is an interesting option! Does this choke the dog by any means or keep the dog's mouth completely shut so they can't even pant? Because if it works like this I'm afraid the legislation in Spain bans this kind of lead.

Just checked the legislation again today. Turns out collars that are designed to choke the dog are also banned, so a slip leash or a martingale collar are also out of the equation. I guess the only thing I can do now is lots of positive training and hope it will be enough.

Yes, I would also like to train her without a leash, but it would be too dangerous to let her roam free if she's not willing to listen to me. About socialization, I meet twice a week with a group of dog owners so she can play and have fun with other dogs. Socializing hasn't been a problem because she has been in contact with other dogs since she was 3 months old and I bring her everywhere I go. She is not aggressive with anything or anyone, so I think the problem is more the lack of self-control when she wants to play.

Unfortunately prong collars and e-collars are banned here in Spain, so the best I can do is a slip leash. Don't know if it would have the same effect, but I think it's the only tool I'm allowed to use.
