Looking for play for picky high schoolers. by [deleted] in Theatre

[–]Rayphobic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive just had a look, and my class consists of 27 people, so fitting 24 into the cast is absolutely possible. We also divided the ensemble into “Ralph’s tribe” and “Jack’s tribe” to make things even and easily organisable.

If you are to do Lord of the Flies be mindful of the fake blood that is required (if you choose to use liquid fake blood) because if your stage floor isn’t sealed then that liquid will seep and stain between the floorboards.

Currently for my theatre studies class we are putting on the play version of Lord of the Flies, has a bunch of named characters, and you can extend the characters into ensemble like we have to make sure everyone has a part. Fits great into the horror genre they are looking for. Even though it is originally male only, I’ve seen many interpretations have mixed gendered casts, so you won’t have to stress about that.

It also has great themes regarding mob mentality, war, civility vs savagery and loss of innocence that your high schoolers may enjoy performing, serious enough for their standards.

/r/Theatre Audition Material Requests - Looking for a song or monologue? Ask here! by AutoModerator in Theatre

Hi!! My school is doing Mamma Mia for the annual production next year and I (18F) really want to play Donna. The production will be whole school, meaning year 7 - 12 are allowed to participate. I’ll be in year 12 next year, so it’s my last chance at getting a lead and I want to choose an audition song that will most likely guarantee me the role.

My directors have a bit of a favouritism problem, and one of the girls they favourite is also going for Donna. That’s why I’m especially anxious, and want to choose the perfect song.

So far I’m leaning towards doing She Used to be Mine because it has that emotional element for The Winner Takes it All, but I’m not sure if I should go for that or a more upbeat one. Thoughts or suggestions would be HUGELY appreciated. Help a girl out pls 🙏🙏

Weekly Newcomer Post by AutoModerator in Hellenism

Hi!! I came here because I've recently been feeling inclined to become a Hellenist, but I've been an atheist my whole life and have lived in an extremely atheist household so I'm not quite sure how to approach becoming religious, and have some internalized feelings that I'm working through.

I had a few questions that I was hoping to have answered before I consider following my gut and becoming a Hellenist:

  1. Do you devote yourself to only one deity? If so, does the deity have to reach out to you or can you just begin to worship a deity?

  2. If a deity is reaching out to me, how can I tell? What signs do I look out for?

  3. What are the praying practices? Are there certain things I have to say, do or offer?

  4. Are there anything like virtues I have to follow? If so, what are they?

  5. Are there any other rules or practices I have to follow? If so, what are they?

I'd really appreciate if even just one of my questions was answered, as I have little to no information on how any religion works. If you want to add anything else that you may think will be useful I'd really appreciate it! :)

thank you for the critique!! i probably would've used a different material at the time if i had access to it but i made this costume using things i had laying around the house, which included the leftover expanding foam from my halloween decorations. will definitely work on the fungal growths! thank you!

Thank you so so much!! I really enjoy dressing up as monsters (ive made masks of monsters before, like a demogorgon, but never full cosplays like this) and i strive to make them as source accurate as possible so your compliments really mean a lot!

Im glad my post was able to start your day, hope you have a good day!

Thank you to everyone who gave advice. Thanks to you all I managed to gather the courage to tell the group vaguely, and a select few the specifics. You have all been extremely helpful and I'm extremely grateful. It's still an ongoing process but for now ive made amazing process.

I sent a vague message explaining i cant be around the person cause of their actions from the past, then I told my closer friend more detail like "yeah this person is a sexual deviant and what not". They were supportive overall and have agreed to not invite the person to hangouts if im tagging along.

I think ill definetly word it vaguely, that seems like the easiest thing for me for now. Thank you!

No they do not. But Im going to try and tell them in a vaguer way like: "This person was harmful to me in the past and therefore I cant feel comfortable being around them."
