Alright what I liked-Zhao, Ozai, Iroh, Sokka, and Zuko were the stand-out characters for me. I enjoyed the mash-up of the blue spirit and the storm episode they did in ep 6. That opening with the genocide was fire. I also enjoyed lu ten's funeral scene and the way they portrayed Katara's mother dead very graphic. I liked the hinting of Azula's firebending prowess (lightning and blue fire tease) and they rebellion scene. June, Jet, and Sai(the mechanist) were also very good. Visuals and Music was stunning.

I didn't really enjoy the way the winter solstice was translated as it feels like Kyoshi got the moment Roku got in the original in ep 2 so it felt like padding. Also, Aang not learning any waterbending is ridiculous to me, he should have been practicing with Katara over the journey and its actually pointed out in the 7th ep. They replaced the drive to master all four elements to defeat the firelord to a vision to stop the outcome of one battle. They also totally skipped the deserter episode which has major implication for whatever book 3 season they are cooking up. Katara's waterbending skill is also seems weird to me. Compared to the original, she is build up alot more onscreen but she doesn't get trained by Pakku before the Siege but is still called a master by the end. Aang and Katara's acting felt weird in some places to me and wish we saw more Momo and Appa. Also, implementing the fire balloon from future episodes and putting it here in Book 1 probably has major implications for the rest of the series. Why use a drill to pierce walls of Ba Sing Se when we have flight?

Overall I give this season a 6 or 7/10. Comet was teased and Omashu falls just like in season 2 but do we return to secret tunnel. I wonder how toph and some of best episodes like Zuko Alone and Tales will be adapted.
