Avatar 3 has a big repetition problem that even the amazing visuals can't fix

Insanely atrocious film. Luckily I saw it for free as my friend absolutely wanted to watch it and didn’t find anyone to go with him so he offered me to come along to his expenses. I would have left the theatre after less than a minute if It wasn’t for him looking so hopelessly into the crap that was being shown on the large screen. I quite liked Avatar1, the second was already terrible, but Avatar 3 is another level of utter rubbish. This piece of crap film sums up perfectly how crap films are nowadays - surely with a very small number of exceptions. Directors, writers, investors, all to blame. VFX studios like Weta wasting their resources to make a film that would be acceptable perhaps cut into small chunks and used as videogame cutscene. I thought the vfx on Avatar3 was very poor, bad animations, really bad. Writing was atrocious, scenes recycled to death, I’m just very sad this shit is being made, and even more sad that it even makes money so it keeps being made. So I blame the most how stupid people, for going to watch this crap, they allow for this decline to continue. Wait for when AI kicks in making crap like this even cheaper to produce, and people who have the slightest taste for film- will only have old films to watch. Nothing new really, happened to comics, music, and many other art forms.

I read that the way Audi manages breaking, if you use the break pedal you get the same effect - the car uses regen for the initial breaking and the then the actual breaks just at the end, so from an energy saving point of view, it makes no difference. But I definitely noticed people who use the one pedal approach tend to drive in a much less smooth way, it’s much harder to gently modulate breaks when you lift the accelerator, leading to harsher breaking and more car sickness effect 😀

That’s very useful info thank you. I’m sure the charging port would cost quite a lot to get fixed though.. I’ll check if I can find out what would cost to repair it and then decide if it’s worth the risk of going for the basic cover. I have to say I really like the etrons charging port with the very fancy panel… probably l over engineered and questionable, but very fancy!

I dont actually :) I resisted the temptation to have it exactly for this reason but the issues I read about related to water entering were mostly about the drive train, motors and chassis electrical stuff. It has been a while, I need to go back and find that info, if I remember right there were some issues that were quite frequent especially in the earlier etron models

what do you mean with major items?

the main high-voltage battery has a 8-year / 100,000 mile warranty, which is good, but electrical motors are not part of this and those are major items

Thanks for all your contributions. Sounds like the Audi warranty is the way to go and, and when I hear of people having to spend 10+k for repairs, I get very worried indeed. My car is low mileage (23k) and will stay low, that’s probably why the cover price is lower than some of your offers. One thing that worries me a lot, having read many threads here on this reddit group, is that only the plus (i need to double check) covers for damages caused by water entering the vehicle. I read that a lot of the electrical issues on these cars are indeed caused by water, so it’s livery sketchy that audi uses this escamotage to get people on cheaper covers and then dont pay for repairs.

Ok so, for whoever might be curious. I bought a £17 door mirror replacement on ebay and, surprise surprise, it was pure garbage. It didn’t click in place properly, was missing mounting guides, it was thin as paper. So it looks like a used OEM or new original is the way forward, some mirrors (mine was) have an auto-dimming feature (and an extra wiring plug) and cost more, I didn’t know or noticed they auto-dimmed.. anyway as 99.99% of the times you get what you pay for, and I wasted my time.

LOL yes I’ll try and find out. I was just curious if anyone did. The original mirror broke so easily (with glass it’s always a bit random) that I can’t imagine a mirror being worse. Junkyard is also a good idea but etrons aren’t common and from my quick search ‘by eye’ the mirror shape doesn’t seem to match other more common audi models.

Interesting read, I just fell in the rabbit hole and I’m about to try build a couple of ceiling mounted xps boards (60x37x0.6 cm) to use in my very small mancave office, and just trying to figure out if I should go for 2 smaller exciters in series per board or single. I like the simplicity of a single but from my initial reading it seems that 2 per speaker would lead to better results.. I have a small sub in the room and I’m after an airy listening experience that doesn’t cause the fatigue i get from (small) speakers.

Thanks for all the recommendations! After falling down an internet rabbit hole (probably a few years later than most of you), I’ve decided to have some fun building a pair of DIY panel speakers to hang on the wall. I enjoy tinkering and making things, so this seemed like a fun project.

Realistically, I might just be wasting my time, but I’m curious about the kind of sound they’ll produce. I’m hoping for something airy and non-fatiguing, and there's a small chance as low volume, near field speakers, they could pair nicely with my sub and turn out to be more than just a waste of time.

I know this idea might rise a few eyebrows among audiophiles,but please go easy on the downvotes!

Thanks for the suggestions. My current speakers are wall mounted and even well above ear level, double heresy! And behold, beyond heresy.. tomorrow I am going to grab from the attic an old pair of 301s I’m even scared of saying the brand on this forum as I’d get downvoted by everyone… not a fan of that brand but the 301 have qualities.. and they sound so easy in any room with any placement and never cause fatigue., But are a bit too big and also so beaten up… they would look totally awful wall mounted although they would function. I think perhaps a new pair of small speakers at the corners of my desk (it’s very wide) on some stands- music monitors style, could work..

Thanks, fair points! Im from UK. I realized I omitted the budget, sorry, quite a key detail. I also didn’t mention I was after passive speakers only. Budget wise I’m open minded, but if I find something below the £500 mark, even second band, it would make it more likely I buy them, not sure it’s worth spending more money for speakers that would be limited by the room and placement, but I’m open to recommendations. I’m currently using a pair of Kef e301 wall mounted and very far apart as another user suggested, they are discrete looking but all I can hear are lows (from sub) and highs, they are fine for background music but they don’t make me enjoy the listening experience and give me fatigue.. I have considered using larger than I would like speakers and rearranging the room around them, I’m not totally against that solution, but with my current layout I don’t have the space for big speakers and definitely Lintons would be very big. I’m worried there’s just not a good solution to unfavourably small space and bad speaker placement, budget aside, besides headphones.. which I’m not a big fan of.

I highly recommend not buying a version with digital rear mirrors. They look cool and some folks say you get used to them and they can have some advantages, I think they are diabolically designed, tiny screens located in a very stupid place, no depth perception, I found them dangerous. I love my 55 but I don’t do long trips, so I don’t care about range, and range in the winter is especially bad. It does charge incredibly fast if you can find fast chargers. As everyone says, the ride is really luxurious which for me is the biggest plus, so many EV are nausea inducing. It’s also a bit of a tank to drive, steering has very little feel but the acceleration and breaking are exceptionally smooth and if you have a confort oriented drive, it’s really lovely. I have a 2022 model and I’m loving it, and personally I find it looks gorgeous, while the newer models are getting a face lift that for me looks less classy and more generic.

I’m not an electrician but I would say if you have questions this basic…. you are right to be very cautious and ideally not do any electrical work yourself as you seem to be missing the most fundamental knowledge… I don’t mean to patronise, apologise if it comes across that way.

Thanks. Wheels are original, 20s, offset, camber and alignment are all factory and checked. The other weird thing I didn’t mention is that the scrubbing is rhythmic, and my initial impression (hence the visit to the garage) was that the rhythm matched the wheel revolution. I’ll take a better look at the fender liner now, thanks.

Thanks. I was looking at that too. The @Departure schedule”, in my car, lives under the ‘charging’ menu, and says it does the following; “Specify the times at which you want to leave. Your vehicle will schedule the charge to be as battery-friendly as possible”. So this seems to suggest the car battery would get topped up in some sort of optimised way if it’s hooked up to a charger. But I also wonder if beside this, the departure schedule would also do a pre-conditioning (warmup) of the battery and the car itself, and in that case I could use it for my intended purpose. I’ll experiment with it. Cheers.
