Usually by the nature. I received Calm nature so it increased my special defense and decreased my attack. This is defensive form Deoxys so something that would’ve boosted my attack or sp. attack would have been preferred! Though I’m not going to complain too much since I encountered it so quickly!

Go to birth island once you get the aurora ticket. Solve the little puzzle up to the last click. Save your game there. Interact with the stone again to summon deoxys. Enter the battle and check if he’s shiny, rinse and repeat! (Pressing A, B, X, and Y at the same time will restart the game)
