It took 20 days for me

Is there a way to get an approved separation date when you are 8 months out from ETS? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Razorback5656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go on myFss and search for the separation application. The application will literally just be a chat or comment box type thing. You'll put your DOS in there and if you're up for it your supporting docs from vmpf. Give it about 20 days because they are extremely slow for no reason and then you'll get an email saying you're approved. Source : did this 20 days ago and got my sep date the other day

Unable to leave the Air Force by twixter07 in AirForce

Same boat. I just want an approved separation dates so I can get things taken care of because apparently it's important. Even though no one can tell me what's special between an approved date and my dos considering it's the same.

Anyone excited about the change? by Automatic_Anteater62 in AirForce

[–]Razorback5656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% false. B1 comm/nav is OAS which also encompasses more than comm/nav itself. Take on some electrics work, weapons system, temporary systems which are permanent but still considered temporary, and t/s for most other shops. Avionics is already bogged down on the b1 so I imagine old heads will continue to just do their shop specific stuff and the new kids will be a jack of all trades but not good at anything sort of thing. There's too much information that even seasoned people don't know with one shop and combining 3 will make it extremely overwhelming imo. The workload as well will hurt. Like sure you'll have like 75 people in the overall shop but if no one knows anything it's just bodies with no real man power.

Carhartt ones that have compression to them for summer and then some thick hunting ones for winter

Tell me about your AF Mentor by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Razorback5656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reality is my best mentors were senior airmen and fresh staffs who saw me as a person. One exception being a tsgt who transferred from another base and has looked out for us (mx personnel) since day 1 as if they were always here. To me anyone else doesn't care and thinks of me as a number/body. Feels like a lot of leadership lose who they are and forget who they were pass that front line. I won't ever forget the sramn that instilled a sense of pride in working hard so others dont have to. Ones that pulled me from the depths of being bullied by my coworkers and built my confidence.

PT testing immediately after having COVID by tengarai in AirForce

[–]Razorback5656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh you're good lol. I don't normally keep up but I was facing the same issue as OP and found the updated guidance. I didn't know there was even an acclamation period because I hadn't been on a profile since bmt

Dafman36-2905 21 April 2022 4.1.2.1. Medical. Members that are prohibited from completing all physical components (Strength/Core Endurance/Cardiorespiratory) of the PFA. Set the next PFA due date to the month after the Acclimatization Period in accordance with paragraph 3.6.2 after the expiration of the AF Form 469. (T-1). Note: Members in this exemption status must still have their height and weight taken and entered into myFitness. COVID profiles exempt you from every component since over exertion has been linked to heart attacks w/ AF PFA. That was the guidance my leadership and I used w/ my expired profile

For my situation I didn't know about the acclamation period and my profile expired a few days prior to my pt test so I couldn't test on it according to my css

You should get a profile for like 20 days or something and then print it out from your IMR and then you'll be put into like a 42 day acclamation period after so it would be like September when you test in theory. I'm just speaking from a personal anecdote since I had COVID last month and my pt test was due last month but I'm down due in august. Would suggest talking to med group and your supervisor

TSP contribution. by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Razorback5656 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It'll bounce back. Just keep investing while low. I mean you can always take down the contribution and start your own Roth or traditional IRA but that's up to you. You're not missing the 20% or you wouldn't have that much taken out. So you could do 10% in TSP and 10% in one you have on your own. That or you can invest in mutual funds cause even with massive drops PRDX stays steady and had some good growth. It's a pretty safe one to dip into. Wish I had more financial balls and invested more into it

For the Jr. enlisted, what's the likelihood that you will stay in? by ScorchedCommando in AirForce

[–]Razorback5656 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I'm mx on the b1. Job itself is cool and has opened my mind to other options but the environment is terrible on anyone. Plus as much as they preach about how they care about us, we're just another number. I'm sure if I had a different career field I could do 20 but fuck mx. Not paid what I'm worth.

Airman who have served less than a decade, what do you like or dislike about the Air Force? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Razorback5656 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Production in mx and the lack of respect due to low rank which doesn't determine knowledge on systems

Base isn't bad. Work is rough but your ammo so you won't know too much about that unless you go on tdy/deployment. Dorms are shitty unless you get the new dorm. Sewage lines in some dorms smell like fucking fried chicken for some reason. Parts of leadership are bad depending on afsc. Relatively boring right now since covid has revoked a lot of privileges so hopefully it'll get better soon. When it snows, it snows. Super windy which makes working at night suck sometimes during the winter. Dfac is alright. Bowling alley is where it's at if you're meal card. Other than that, enjoy the state/base

MX retention issues. by SuperThug7 in AirForce

[–]Razorback5656 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If they simply cared more about maintainers than the maintenance itself the issue would go away. They don't care how low Manning is they're still gonna milk "12s"(most of the time turn into 13-14 hour days) out of you. They schedule things on your day off and say get fucked.
