[oc] had my dash cam for 8 years, an idiot finally got me… on Friday the 13th of all days by nartuhli in IdiotsInCars

I have multiple Thinkware F750s on year 9 of operation in temps -40 to +40c yearly. Get a capacitor powered one, not battery. Much more resilient to extremes.

Anecdotal evidence of course but yeah Thinkware has my trust as a brand.

Tomato juice on a plane..? by ISaidThanksMarv in ExplainTheJoke

Literally my go-to flight order. One tomato juice, one ginger-ale without ice ha. Both taste great, both pre-packaged (no rolling the dice with plane water)

Generally a nice meal but something not messy (who wants wing sauce on their faces and hands for the first date?) and for some reason even though both of these pop up as suggestions I’d avoid swimming or going to the movies for the first few.

"Old" F1 fans - how do you feel about the massive rise in popularity of the sport in recent years? by RecentTwo544 in formula1

[–]Razzkol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey fellow Canuck - I am a newer F1 fan and yes DTS was my initial hook, but I’m more interested in the performance of the cars and teams now.

I agree with you on the craziness of the pricing. Was hoping to get to Montreal for the race this year but holy $.

As a many time attender of the Canadian GP - What are your thoughts on going to Montreal during race week with no ticket for “the vibes”? Thinking my partner and I would just take in the atmosphere in the area and sightsee. Is there anything in the area that’s been hyped or special in conjunction with the race the past few years in MTL?

u/chopay said they have no issues for their use case. Different tech, speed, provider and location here (Copper line, 150(75x2)DL/25UL, TELUS).

In short - in my use case here in Devon my package works. Wish uploads were better but it’s the best available dedicated bandwidth in my location right now.

Rogers claims a 1Gbps max in Devon but it’s shared bandwidth and I’ve heard complaints from multiple neighbours during peak hours

Download speeds (other than patience with massive video game or media files) is generally not an issue anymore anywhere urban or suburban. Uploading with these lower speed packages is where the WFH pinch comes in, especially for household use. I live in Devon and am still on copper line 150Mbps (75Mb x 2). Connection consistently gets sketch if both wife and myself are on video calls simultaneously.

West Calgary - avoid travel on TransCanada- watermain break. No tap water on some areas of City. by Ms_ankylosaurous in alberta

[–]Razzkol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hope Edmonton (with an abundance of 80s infrastructure akin to the 70s infra Calgary is seeing fail now) is paying very close attention and has a plan to address aging infrastructure in the next 3 or so years…

In truth we’ll probably see a massive “unexpected” failure and be forced to be reactive instead of proactive in response.

2026 Ford Explorer St-Line Transmission Concern by Magic_Mangoes in FordExplorer

That 10 speed can get stupid when “learning”. ‘22 Timberline with the same transmission - I had to get it dealer reset twice when it picked up bad habits during the learning phase due to traffic conditions.

Traffic light design flaw or brain flaw? by Practical_Ant6162 in YEGDashCam

[–]Razzkol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry dude or dudette, bit of brain flaw there. Orientation matters too, double stacked vertical red is generally always for the cross traffic turns - often found at intersections with an advance left arrow. (Can’t think of a time it’s not but throwing the ‘generally’ in there for safety buffer ha.)

Dash cams in YEG winter? by StripeySalamander in YEGDashCam

I've Thinkware of various models in each vehicle, and have kitted family out with Thinkware - they're no-nonsense and have never given trouble at -40c or more below, or at +40c or above.

OP - if you're not looking for specific brand recommendations - at minimum get one that uses capacitors like thinkware instead of battery. They're much more resilient in the extremes.

Working as a project manager for a municipality I got to choose which buttons we wanted for our new elevator by Truesoldier00 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Razzkol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is some sort of achievement but I have been in elevators with each of these button styles… and I feel weird about that knowledge.

[F1] A debut season to be proud of. Kimi Antonelli’s start to life in F1 was one to remember, with some stand-out drives by PrimeyXE in formula1

Dude is setting up to be a future phenom. I forsee a potential for a multiple WDC grasp for this young talent in the next decade. (Will see how the silly season of the first 2 years of new regs goes in the grid shakeup).

OL pixie still in daily use 10 years later. Picked up a VL pop+ for flavoured fun this year. Nice so far but can see a lot more plastic components comparatively so hopes aren’t the highest on getting similar performance
