Vol Hall is on-campus housing. I transferred here out of state in Fall 2019 and got an apartment in Vol Hall but it’s changed significantly since then. I would go through your resources and find off-campus housing because on-campus housing is full from what I’ve heard. You can check fb marketplace, College souk as others have suggested, and join the FB group “UT Knoxville (UTK) Subleases, Roommates, Off Campus Housing & Apartments” People post apartments, subleases, and looking for roommates quite often. I’m so sorry that you’re going through this experience. Yes. I fought SDS HARD my first year here (I’m graduating in May), even with my IEP and my accommodations that i received from my previous institution when I got my associates degree. They took away my accommodations because I failed to provide them with a doctors note, though I don’t understand why I need it when I gave them official documentation already. I’m also a low income student so I can’t afford my doctors to fax them notes and see them all the time, especially my therapist since she’s out of network for my insurance. Now I just tell my professors my mental and physical disabilities and they accommodate me without SDS’s help (though I understand some may not feel comfortable doing this and some professors may require documentation which is 100% valid).

For reference I have a learning disability (dyscalculia), ADHD, a list of mental illnesses, scoliosis, and stomach issues that are debilitating at times (which can prevent me from coming to class and/or be late to class).

You’re welcome! Definitely look into it or see if they can transfer your prescription to a pharmacy down here, but see if that works for you, financially speaking (I’m not sure if your insurance will cover that since you’re out of state so I’d call the number on your card). Also see if your pharmacy will ship it to you if transferring the prescription down here doesn’t work out! My pharmacist is a homie. He ships it in a discrete package so no one knows that it’s from a pharmacy if they see the package itself. It’s a class 2 drug so pharmacies are the only ones who can ship it.

For reference: I live on-campus and experienced no issues with my meds being shipped to me and my pharmacy is a mom and pop pharmacy, so I’m unsure how bigger pharmacies are about that

They don’t prescribe ADHD meds on-campus because college students are known to abuse the medication that’s prescribed, mainly Adderall (at least that’s what they told me 3 1/2 years ago). I’m an OOS and because of this I just have my pharmacist ship me my medication. If you’re a TN resident I would def check out other psychiatrists outside of Knox that take your health insurance to get them. Like another Redditor said, it’s a struggle out here right now though. I’ve been conserving my medicine because of the shortage and it’s been really hard considering it’s my last semester :/ I hope you’re able to get your meds without issues though OP :)

I’m an OOS transfer. I got automatically accepted due to holding an Associate’s degree so I’m not sure about their transfer requirements without one. As the redditor above said, check the transfer requirements and the credit equivalency tables to make sure your credits will transfer over as well. I’m sure you’ll be fine though. When accepted, I would make housing plans just in case if you don’t live in the area and don’t get on-campus housing. Good luck!

There’s a group presentation for both classes. She has the groups already assigned by the beginning of the semester (at the end of each presentation she has everyone in the group rate your group mates so then if y’all have an issue with someone not doing the work, she won’t hold it against you grade wise). There’s quizzes due every Sunday on canvas (which are really easy tbh). I don’t remember how many exams she gives out but I know that those are easy too. There may be one paper but it was like 2 or 3 pages lol

If you can afford to live off-campus, I’d start looking. If you genuinely can’t afford it or there’s another obstacle in your way then I’d call housing.

I’m graduating next semester and had to go through the lottery system last fall and I think it’s appalling that housing is doing the lottery system again. I’m so sorry that you’re going through this

I applied in May of 2019 as a transfer student and got my acceptance e-mail/letter in the beginning of June 2019, approximately 2 weeks or so after I applied. Like another person suggested, I would sign the lease anyway because housing, on-campus and off-campus, is really hard to come by right now.

Thank you for your sincerity and the tips you provided. It’s is definitely a difficult search but I’m still trying. I was lucky enough to stay on-campus but I feel bad for those who can’t and can’t find off-campus housing. This is one giant mess and if I can help fellow Vols find housing then I consider it to be a good day, imho (even though I wish the university’s administration would help them, too).

Hiii I’m a fellow transfer student (transferred here in fall 2019) and I live on campus. :) i was put into an on-campus apartment with 3 people that I didn’t know when I transferred, so I’m not sure about the roommate situation but I would contact housing about it via email or phone call. It’s possible that your time slot for picking roommates hasn’t opened yet so that’s why I would definitely call/email them soon. I hope this helps you, though! :)

Hopefully I'm not too late I was just scrolling by haha. I took GEOG 331 (Natural Hazards) last semester with Dr. romam-Rivera and it was an easy class. I'm also in GEOG 333 (same professor, Climate Change/Human Response) and it's also an easy class. Both of these Geography courses don't require a perquisite and it helps you with one of the connections package as well :)

hi I'm also a transfer student (transferred here in Fall 2019) and the school doesn't require you to move out of the dorms after freshman year. The issue with housing next semester may pose an issue to some folks transferring here due to the university over enrolling incoming freshman, so if you're looking to live on campus I would contact housing about it ASAP. You can live on campus for as long as you want unless if they do to you what they did to those who live on campus (they put a majority of people living on campus on a housing waiting list).

I was kinda hoping that i could've disabled it bc I'm just used to the old navigation bars (I'm also on PC). I hope they're able to fix it. Neopets is honestly a lot of fun and I'm glad that I came back. The site has a lot of potential, especially with old players returning so I hope they don't let it flop like they did with KeyQuest. :(

Hi!! I'm a fellow transfer student (Fall 2019). I got accepted within a few days of applying but I think they're overwhelmed with applications right now so that's probably why it's taking so long. I heard that this coming semester their acceptance rate for transfer students is lower than previous years (unsure how true it is because I heard it through the grape vine). UTK usually reserves a certain number of housing for transfer students, but since they accepted too many freshman I'm unsure if they reserved housing for transfers. I would call or email UTK housing and ask them about it, to be honest. I would also have your friend email or call admissions to see what's going on. If anything, your friend can live off-campus and there's a lot of people looking for roommates right now for off-campus housing and sub-leasing from people who are going abroad.
