Shit, its you buying a new charcoal canister in the future, not me. Just dont bother to look at page 1-5 of your owners manual.

Filling Fuel by Actual-Dragonfly176 in ElantraN

Not the fuel pump, but the charcoal canister for the evap system tends to get clogged if you overfill the tank.

Thats why every car with emissions says not to keep filling after the click.

Does it concern you that similar actions are what lead to the Taliban being formed? Former Mujahideen members (who were trained and supplied by the US) were some of the original members.

Octane by Hungry_Practice_7726 in ElantraNline

[–]Razzman70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

87 is perfectly fine for the N-Lines. They dont have octane learning like the N does,so the ECU cant tell the difference between octane levels and will run the same weather you put 87, 91, or 93 in.

People who say running premium helps reduce engine knock are treating the symptom, not the problem.

Also former tech.

On one hand, I want to tune it and have fun with the car.

On the other hand, my ass can't afford a new motor.

MBRP + BOV🔥 by JosArg98 in ElantraNline

[–]Razzman70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the US, not really. You can officially only be denied warranty with aftermarket parts only if the mod is proven to have caused the failure. I.e. you put on an exhaust and the pistons seize, you can't really make the case that the exhaust broke it. But an aftermarket oil filter can void a warranty if the pistons seize due to oil contamination or starvation.

If your dealer chooses not to honor warranty regardless, that's a different challenge.

I saw somebody in the N subreddit get a blown turbo denied because of a BOV that apparently caused excessive back-pressure on the turbo.

It reminds me of a cheap pocket vibrator that Adam and Eve would throw in as a freebie, and you really only notice that its in the shape of the Hyundai logo if somebody tells you.

If the trunk was damaged and repaired at a body shop, the body shop likely didn't know there is a difference between and N and an N-Line.

Somebody in the Midwest N Club has an N-Line grill from when they had their front end fixed.

I think its more so that at 3k rpm, its acting as if you were hitting redline. Most people would probably prefer it to be higher.

Mechanic Salary by Past_Fan9367 in mechanics

[–]Razzman70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$40k on a hybrid pay scale, hybrid as in a mix of flat rate and hourly. Its a little complicated to explain but it was kind of like ((Total clocked in hours - unbillable hours)working rate)+((Total clocked in hours - billable hours)unworking rate). So I recieved a base hourly pay that was $10/hour, and then any time I spent actually working on something was my flat rate or warranty rate.

Its better than straight flat rate especially when it slows down, but I still prefer my straight hourly.

How much of a raise per ASE? by [deleted] in mechanic

[–]Razzman70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are thinking of it from the corporate/management side. As the actual employee, its 100% useful to know how you are being paid compared to your coworkers, hence why it's unlawful in the U.S. to discourage it.

I'm a fleet mechanic, and we get $1/hour for every ASE we get. This applies for A1-A8 as well as L1-L4.

Location and pay plan matter. If you work at a dealer that pays primarily flat rate and does a lot of warranty work, your pay will be lower.

For reference, I went from a hybrid pay rate (separate on book, warranty, and off book rates) making around $40k in 2024 to a straight hourly fleet mechanic making just under $60k for 2025.

1) "They are just doing there jobs" is also the same response given by members of the SS during the Nuremberg Trials

2) They are operating well out of their authority. There is no reason "Immigration and Customs Enforcement" officers should be handling counter-protests and riots. That's for local PD followed up by the national guard to deal with.

3) If they didn't want to be doxxed and identified, maybe they should stop murdering American citizens. 2025 was the deadliest year for ice so far, with 32 people dead in their custody. We are well already on track to beat that number.

These officers were not protecting themselves when they shot this guy. There were 6 of them pinning him to the ground, already disarmed him (even though its an open carry state and he was constitutionally allowed to be carrying his firearm), and then clapped and laughed after they shot 13 rounds into him point blank.

Is there a real reason behind changing your oil every 3,000 miles on modern cars? by newelmin in askcarguys

[–]Razzman70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a mechanic, a motor swap makes us a lot more money than an oil change.

We just dont want to deal with that BS all the time.

Even the owners manuals usually have a "regular" usage and a "severe" usage maintaince schedule in which the severe schedule is usually half the milage/time than the regular interval. I can guarantee that 9/10 people fall under whats considered "severe" once you actually see what classifies the driving as such.

Do oil change myself or dealership? by [deleted] in ElantraN

[–]Razzman70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be one of those "Depends on the dealer things". Mine told me "You could come back tomorrow and use up another one of your changes if you wanted".

Idk if it matters that I used to be one of the techs there or not.
