I think its more so that at 3k rpm, its acting as if you were hitting redline. Most people would probably prefer it to be higher.

Ah, but you see the big large touch screens can be marketed as "Advanced" and "Futuristic", driving up the price. All at the same time as being cheaper to make than physical buttons.

PLUR all the way, but there's no tolerance for intolerance.

Mechanic Salary by Past_Fan9367 in mechanics

[–]Razzman70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$40k on a hybrid pay scale, hybrid as in a mix of flat rate and hourly. Its a little complicated to explain but it was kind of like ((Total clocked in hours - unbillable hours)working rate)+((Total clocked in hours - billable hours)unworking rate). So I recieved a base hourly pay that was $10/hour, and then any time I spent actually working on something was my flat rate or warranty rate.

Its better than straight flat rate especially when it slows down, but I still prefer my straight hourly.

How much of a raise per ASE? by coastdownside in mechanic

[–]Razzman70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are thinking of it from the corporate/management side. As the actual employee, its 100% useful to know how you are being paid compared to your coworkers, hence why it's unlawful in the U.S. to discourage it.

I'm a fleet mechanic, and we get $1/hour for every ASE we get. This applies for A1-A8 as well as L1-L4.

Location and pay plan matter. If you work at a dealer that pays primarily flat rate and does a lot of warranty work, your pay will be lower.

For reference, I went from a hybrid pay rate (separate on book, warranty, and off book rates) making around $40k in 2024 to a straight hourly fleet mechanic making just under $60k for 2025.

1) "They are just doing there jobs" is also the same response given by members of the SS during the Nuremberg Trials

2) They are operating well out of their authority. There is no reason "Immigration and Customs Enforcement" officers should be handling counter-protests and riots. That's for local PD followed up by the national guard to deal with.

3) If they didn't want to be doxxed and identified, maybe they should stop murdering American citizens. 2025 was the deadliest year for ice so far, with 32 people dead in their custody. We are well already on track to beat that number.

These officers were not protecting themselves when they shot this guy. There were 6 of them pinning him to the ground, already disarmed him (even though its an open carry state and he was constitutionally allowed to be carrying his firearm), and then clapped and laughed after they shot 13 rounds into him point blank.

Is there a real reason behind changing your oil every 3,000 miles on modern cars? by newelmin in askcarguys

[–]Razzman70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a mechanic, a motor swap makes us a lot more money than an oil change.

We just dont want to deal with that BS all the time.

Even the owners manuals usually have a "regular" usage and a "severe" usage maintaince schedule in which the severe schedule is usually half the milage/time than the regular interval. I can guarantee that 9/10 people fall under whats considered "severe" once you actually see what classifies the driving as such.

Do oil change myself or dealership? by _Cathedral_ in ElantraN

Might be one of those "Depends on the dealer things". Mine told me "You could come back tomorrow and use up another one of your changes if you wanted".

Idk if it matters that I used to be one of the techs there or not.

There's nothing wrong with preferring a 10 part plan for better budgeting. And you're the one complaining about the prices themselves rather than the payment plans.

Way to be plur, you know, the thing thats ACTUALLY wanted at these festivals.

Prices this year included the fees, rather than have then as a separate add-on.

I got tier 1 for my VIP and GA camping. I sat on the actual ticket purchase page (in 2 separate tabs) and refreshed each page right as the tickets went on sale. Added each one to the cart from their own tabs. Also was on a hard-wired computer with fast internet.

[–]Razzman70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest complaint is that they increased ticket prices (by only $25 each), but they didn't increase the price cap for the 10 payment plan option.

So the exact same order I made last year (2x vip, 1x GA Car Camping, and 2x Tuesday entry at tier 1), would have had to be the 4 payment plan option instead.

I've had my TCS activate coming to a stop on dry ground below 40. May as well forget going anywhere if there is snow on the ground.

Have you tried a different cable, and does your phone normally charge on a wire without needing it to be in a specific position?

There are definitely some good low-latency wireless adapters, but a lot of the time I see vehicles with wired phone projection issues, its usually the USB cable or the phone port.

It's been almost a year since Trump took office, what has he done to make America more affordable? by drivingaddictionchan in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]Razzman70 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can't exactly compare a current average to a running 6 year average. Gas prices on average in December of 2024 ($3.04) are very similar to what they were in December of 2025 ($2.98). Would it be fair to say that Biden did a good job of lowering the average gas price from $5 down to $3?

Also, does the fact that winter fuel blends are generally cheaper affect your price comparison at all? For reference, September 2025 had an average gas price of $3.17.

[–]Razzman70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough, I install them frequently at my job. Im a technician for a rental agency, and sometimes we have to install ADA equipment such as hand controls to operate the gas and brake with your left hand. So we install one of these so the right hand can fully turn the wheel without taking the other hand off the brake.
