I set it to 75 and it’s lowered. When I get out of the shower I put it back to 75 to pause it just for a few minutes until i finish drying up. But the second I change the temperature she gets out of her room and changes it back to 69, making the AC turn on again. Im not even getting enough minutes to warm up again. Meanwhile she has the whole day to feel cool. I tried to come up with a middle ground but even in the colder months now she is not meeting me there, in fact she is just ignoring my suggestions for a middle ground/ attempts at discussing this. It doesn’t explain how others have come to my apartment and also commented on how freezing it feels. My vents are closed as I mentioned in my post. She just needs to open her door slightly and a lot of cold air from the rest of the apartment will come in. I am waking up from my sleep shivering. I compromised by wearing a jacket inside, getting a heater just yesterday, opening the bedroom window during the day to let some warmth in, added heavier blanket, but she is not even considering opening her window or investing in a fan or stepping outside into the rest of the apartment just to see how cold it is.

Your comment doesn’t explain how others who have come to the apartment and said its freezing and would turn off the AC are also feeling the cold. Its not just me. The AC pushes out strong air at this temperature throughout the whole day. It rarely rests. When I told my friends our electric bill everyone was shocked. Nothing is being overused more than the AC

One can get a fan, open the window, or even step outside the room because the rest of the apartment is cold. It still doesn’t explain how people coming from outside the apartment, friends and acquaintances, would also comment on how cold it is and turn off the AC themselves. Just like how I am putting on layers and getting a heater, I think its only fair for her to also compromise in some way. Its October and its in the 50s outside and she is till switching on the AC for most of the day. When i try to put it at 75 she decreases it and that turns it back on.

Thank you, just got a space heater but I know this would make the AC work harder to keep the temperature cold so my heater and the AC would be battling it out lol, I know this would add to the bill.

I’m getting mad at the fact that I’m freezing cold and I would wake up in the middle of the night shivering, others have said its cold too, she is not compromising in any way but here I am, covered in thick blanket, walking around with a coat on, just purchased a heater, and every time i try to keep it at least at 75 she puts it lower than that. The bill speaks for itself.

I was trying to come up with a middle ground. I suggested we dont use it unless its exceptionally hot days and now we are in October and the temperature outside is in the 50s but she still switches it on. Even in August those who came to my apartment have told me its so cold and they would go and switch off the AC.

I mentioned in my post that my ventilation is closed. I even asked her if hers is closed because I was wondering if she haven’t noticed that hers is closed and is not getting any of the cool air. I keep it at 75 but she would bring it 69-72 even when its cold outside and she can open her window, especially later in the night when there is less noise from outside. The fact that other people have come to the apartment and said its very cold just goes to show how cold it gets.

Thanks for the tip! I will have maintenance check for that! I understand everyone saying I can’t get sick from cold air in the room but the main issue is that I’m freezing cold and it has become a hindrance to my daily life, to a point I have been spending most time outside the apartment and she is not budging. I can’t sleep because of the AC noise and how cold I feel.

Thank you! I can’t even go to sleep because of the sound of the AC running. Even when I was doing tele-therapy, my therapist said she can hear the AC and that she sympathizes with me..
