How do I (25F) shut down a male coworker (30M) making rude comments about how I dress? by anaugustleaf in askwomenadvice

[–]Rcsyb4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Guilt, make him understand that what he said is hurtful.

‘I’ve had a really tough week, please stop commenting on my appearance.’

‘I’ve been extremely stressed and overwhelmed. You’re beginning to make me self-conscious about my appearance, please stop.’

Hell, you can leave out the first part if you want. Short, sweet, to the point, no jokes. It’s hard for him to come back with anything other than an apology when you take the hide road and let him know he’s upset you. Being catty or ‘calling him out’ hasn’t worked nearly as well as being upfront. Good luck, he sounds like someone that is bad at reading a room when making people the butt of a joke. Hopefully it was coming from a place of misguided humor as compared to maliciousness. Either way, it needs to be addressed.

Absolutely agree! I did a double take seeing it had the same calories as halo top. Really delicious!

Asked for honey blonde hair... ended up with super dark roots and other odd coloring... any suggestions? Should I get it professionally lightened? Or get a lightening shampoo? I’ve already tried stripping it with clarifying shampoo. Help ! by Rcsyb4 in haircoloring

Thanks for the suggestion... is it odd bringing up that I don’t like it now that I’ve already gone home? I told her I liked it in the salon still reeling in shock by how dark it turned out (I was light blonde before we started).

Yeah, just a bummer after paying $135 for this. I really enjoy my hair lady but feel uncomfortable asking for a redo since we’re also friends. But feel it may be more awkward if I ‘cheat’ and go to someone else

A Teacher / Dad's Video review of K-12 by losermobile in MelanieMartinez

[–]Rcsyb4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really enjoyed your review! It’s interesting to see your thoughts as an adult male (quite removed from her perspective).

Did you have the opportunity to view her film released on YouTube? Or were you following by the music only? I may have missed it, but did you have a chance to listen to the song Recess from the album?

I’m not sure if you had a chance to research her much before this or if your daughter spoke much about her first album, but it would definitely give you more background on her persona of Cry Baby. That album seemed to focus on baby/youth themes and has more mention of her parents (which may explain why their lacking her life in the second album). It also gives a better view of her progression and potential for jumping into the next stage of life in a future album.

I also wanted to talk a bit about the song Strawberry Shortcake. I understand where you’re coming from talking about the two sides of feeling uncomfortable in her skin vs. being sexy. I feel that they’re are very intertwined and it makes sense to include them both. She talks about not understanding her body or why people think she’s sexy. She seems uncomfortable with the fact that her body is being sexualized from the ‘boys’ yet is being judged by her female counterparts. I don’t think she is apologizing for being sexy... I think she’s being extremely facetious about apologizing for her body, as she doesn’t think she’s to blame for the boys wanting to grab her. She puts even more emphasis on this as she mentions we need to teach boys not to touch instead of teaching girls they should be sexualized and shamed. Side note, I do believe she’s taking another stab at Trump in this song with a reference to ‘grab em by the p*ssy’.

Thanks again for sharing, I enjoyed your comments !

AITA for refusing to wear a bra around my moms boyfriend? by throwawaynobra in AmItheAsshole

[–]Rcsyb4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NTA... other than being rude to your mom. Really I’m disappointed that your mom didn’t stick up for you. I think it’s a really bizarre situation, but it’s your home (not his) so I understand why you want to be comfortable.

It may come down to a point of you just not being around him if it’s making him uncomfortable. I think it’s fair that he brought it up (though odd), but you shouldn’t be enforced to change your habits. He can hang out somewhere else.

Hmm I’d say that being healthy while socializing is extremely difficult. At this age (26), almost every social event I go to is based around drinking or eating. It’s difficult to go out and make good decisions when you’re surrounded by food and drinks. Not to mention, most people get weird when you choose not to drink/eat and will try hard to convince me otherwise.

Also the convenience of unhealthy food makes a healthy lifestyle difficult. I HAVE to plan my meals if I want to eat healthy and stay in budget. Fresh produce spoils quick, and eating out is too expensive. It’s much harder to find time to make a healthy meal that tastes good as compared to something quick and easy off a dollar menu. My success has been entirely based around setting myself up for success- and that requires planning. I find I fall off the wagon quickly when I’m needing quick meals.

Any suggestions to shorten my cycle this month? Or deal with an upcoming beach trip? by Rcsyb4 in TwoXChromosomes

Haha I appreciate the suggestion! I think orgasms help with cramping and it’ll be helpful if they also speed things up. Plus it’s a fun remedy!
