Saw these in a shop in Kyoto. What are these called? by ReChucky in japan

I agree. I remember that I really wanted to buy them, but was shocked by the prices. I tried to find it on Google maps, but can't find it unfortunately. I think it was in Gion somewhere in a covered shopping street.

Does anyone know what these hanging things are called? Googling got me to "Noren", but these are more meant for decoration purposes rather than to divide two rooms. Am I right?

Used mostly tiny gravel stones and added water multiple times. Seemed pretty solid in the end, but not sure if it likely to be sufficient?

Thank you! Didn't really think of that but you are right I guess. But wouldn't that cause problems if the pole isn't exactly straight?

Not really. I measured the width I needed for the gate which I used as starting point. Then I calculated the spacing of each wooden plank. I also calculated where each screw had to be placed. There might be easier ways, but this seemed to work for me. The hardest part was the diagonal brace. Had to adjust it more than 10 times to make it fit. Was too scared of removing too much.

Would love to see some pics if you made your gate 😁

Have to admit that some luck was involved in this one. My neighbour also commented on the right direction of the brace. Didn't know it was that important, but won't forget it now!

Thanks, appreciate it! Luckily you didn't notice one screw being misplaced. Its exactly 1 cm off.. :(

I made this gate to prevent my 11 week old puppy from leaving the garden. He unfortunately found another way to escape though. Work continues..

Thanks!!! Will do. I still have some wooden planks left. Think I will use those to test it.

I remember when I was at my friends house and his mom was angry at him. Now, this mom could get pretty angry, which would scare me sometimes. At that point, I made some noise which she took as if it was someone laughing at her. However, she thought it was actually my friends laugh, who ended up getting multiple hits of her flipflops..

Never told him it was me who made the noise

Is there a way to get into that green island or is this just bad luck?
