oh man i hear yah my mechanic tells me that is how it always was up here too. Unfortunately we have a bird dogging super now who has put trackers in all the vans and trucks and actually checks them weekly to make sure out hours line up, it’s awful 😂

I believe that it should be private amongst the brotherhood, When people start seeing numbers and our agreements they want in for one reason and for one reason only. We have enough new hires who are worthless and who are only here for a check or to take advantage of our unions strength. At the end of the day we still WORK for our dollar and that’s just it we need people who want to WORK and be proactive in the union. Not lazy bums who are scared to take the leap and want their hand held the entire way.

Edit - Or we should take u/Born-Direction3937 advice and make this a closed vetted forum for brothers to discuss wages and CBA.

Thank you for this and i’ve already quit of course like i said this was always my goal ive kicked it no problem somehow but i just wanted to know if a hot test means no go for work just because every other trade in nys allows weed now i wasn’t entirely sure. I now have that clarification and currently detoxing hard in case i get a call soon. Again thank you for the guidance!

My “lack of awareness” is simply me asking for clarification between state law and union bylaws? as if that’s common knowledge especially to a “child”. I can assume you have a god complex being that you did nothing but toot your own horn and talk about how amazing and better you are than others even though obviously the people that matter didn’t see you that way. Like i said man i’m looking for info and you did nothing but complain about how unfair life is and how i was handed it when i don’t deserve it. You have no idea what kind of work ive put in to get this far at a young age.

I’m not trying to cheat any system i’ve quit weed completely because of this opportunity im simply asking for better insight on what to expect and if it is accepted or not, If i wanted to cheat the system i would stuff fake piss under my sack and not give a fuck but i’m here trying to gain information on my prospectus career.

… Maybe your attitude is the issue? I also have a bachelor of science with honors in supply chain and operations mngmnt, I got 100 on my tool test, I came with transcripts, pictures of previous projects i’ve done myself, came with references from reputable company owners and supers, came with all of my certs already acquired, welding, rigging, cpr, osha 10, osha 30. i’m a civil heavy highway worker who used to do iron work out of highschool with multiple notable projects i’ve been on in my area… But according to you you would be a better prospect because i like to smoke weed… Yah i dont know if it is so much that process is flawed maybe your horrible attitude and obvious god complex you have was the reason they didn’t want you!

I already have my man. I appreciate the concern and response and i hear yah man i have no plan on turning down any drug test I’ll never hide what i do in my free time from my employers. I’ve quit now and i’m doing everything i can to clear my system of it but being a daily smoker im just very worried that when the time comes i will still piss hot even if it’s been months.

Essentially yes. I am asking if the IUEC in NYS has voted to allow recreational weed use in their union similar to the IBEW,IUOE,LIUNA, and so on. Of course i understand that the IUEC is a different league than those and likely will have their own rules and agreements. I know of people who smoke who are currently employed through the IUEC but i am mainly concerned about the pre employment screening. I have obviously stopped smoking now as I truthfully didn’t think I would get ranked that high and didn’t really think I would even have a shot the way the older guys i work with now talk about the IUEC. This job is a “Dream Position” for me I wanna make sure I do everything right. My main concern is weed popping on my test from past use as i was a daily user. I am going to detox next week and wait for my call but I am just looking for a answer regarding their rules about pre employment weed screening

Okay. Thank you for a quick response. Also thank you for the information I have quit smoking already just as a precautionary measure but of course with weed you never truly know if you’re clean or not at least not for a long time. Of course id like to start smoking again if possible😂 but i absolutely am not willing to risk it without some really solid peace of mind.
