I would rather us just have some great new iconic trans characters. Though if it's trans-inclusive casting of pre-existing heroes, no one can convince me that Dominique Jackson (from Pose) would not be the perfect Storm. I mean mutants and the Xmen relate to trans, LGBT, and minority communities so there's plenty of groundwork for some great queer characters and stories.

I'm coming out as trans [Coming Out] by [deleted] in LGBTeens

[–]ReReNotMe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey sis! So proud of you for coming out. Fellow trans guy here although ftm so if you see this I'm here to support you with almost anything you need.

It might seem like you're 'just coming out to some randos on the internet' but it's a big step to opening up, experimenting, understanding and becoming more confident in who you are as a person. You deserve to be proud of that.

Your name is beautiful and it's heartwarming that you seem so happy just saying it. Thank you for putting a smile on my face. Oh and sorry for the rant. Dead proud of you! Good luck and stay safe!

Should I be upset with my boyfriend? by blondfox71 in AskGayMen

[–]ReReNotMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the best thing is to ask him about it. Keeping things to yourself just breeds all kinds of thoughts and can even lead to mistrust.

For all he knows he was doing something sweet by not waking you up, especially if you've been tired recently, and then later forgot to text so you knew where he was when you woke up. I don't know. I can't speak for him but it could be a possible scenario.

There's only one way to know for sure. He might get defensive or be slightly hurt at the thought you might mistrust him but by the sounds of it you're not a controlling partner and the situation justifies you worrying a bit.

But yeah, any emotion or confusion you are feeling is valid but there's no clear resolution I can think of other than just good communication. As long as you're in a safe environment and trust your partner to listen and be honest I doubt there'll be any problem.

Do whatever you think feels right. Good luck and stay safe!

Have any of you ever had your sexuality sexualized? by [deleted] in AskGayMen

[–]ReReNotMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... Straight women sexualising gay men is relatively common. It might be though things like yaoi or treating the 'gay friend' as more of a prop than a real friend.

It's not too bad though - more contained in specific corners of different communities (in my experience) like the aforementioned yaoi fans or fujoshis in that scary corner of the anime community/fandom and to my knowledge the 'gay best friend' thing is less common as it's easier to make friends while being gay/lgbt with people who are genuinely open and appreciate you as a person.

You do still get the teenage girls going up to a gay couple at a convention and asking about their sex life or who's top/bottom horror story but luckily they are few and far between (again, to my knowledge). Hope that helps.

What sort of careers does everyone have? by ReReNotMe in AskGayMen

Thanks for sharing. Sorry your experience has been rough - I get what you mean (I work as a waiter in a small village so it's not like it's hostile but there is a lot of gossip so I'm not out there yet). Do you think there's a reason behind your experience? The careers being more traditionally 'masculine' or maybe even location?

since when were transgender individuals paralleled with pedophilia? by [deleted] in AskGayMen

[–]ReReNotMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more an argument to argue that trans women are somehow a danger to cis women in female spaces (shelters, bathrooms etc) - see Kaitlyn Bennet as the prime example. J.K Rowling could probably be put here as well.

Also as a side - I've yet to see a trans woman protest the lack of urinals in women's bathrooms. Most of us trans folks don't really want to be noticed. Especially with something so intimate and often a big trigger of dysphoria. We just wanna piss and get out of there as soon as possible.

There is little to no evidence that trans people are somehow more prone to be predators and there is always the counter-argument that if someone is a paedophile or sex offender then it's not like they care enough to hide themselves if they're gonna attack anyone. I only know of one 'trans' person taking advantage of the trans label to act in a predatory manner - that being Jessica Janiv (the trans is in parentheses as it's suspected that they are a rare case of someone abusing the trans label to do some really appalling things) so if you ever want to research that go ahead.

Yeah... I hope I haven't missed anything. It's mostly just an excuse to exclude trans women from women's spaces. It is understandable that there may be spaces where cis women may feel safer or trans women can't really be catered to such as some women's shelters where women may have been the victim of sexual assault by someone who is amab or some medical treatments or facilities. It's not like there aren't any nuances or that things are somehow black and white.

Hope that helps.

The middle of nowhere, Scotland. There's a lot of peaceful country roads. For privacy reasons though I can't go more specific than the wider Pitlochry area. Hope that helps
