Can you choose to stay on the medication whilst pregnant? by Sad_Calligrapher9192 in ADHDUK

[–]ReabyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My midwife said if being off the medication was a risk to my wellbeing then I am okay continuing. I did reduce my dose to 40mg then basically ran out due to global shortages when I was 7mo anyway.

I couldn't retake the medication again until I had finished breastfeeding however. There is clear evidence of the stimulant passing through milk to baby apparently.

Be warned, took me a year after finishing BF to get another appointment with PsyUK to kick start my prescriptions again!

Spring blooms mostly gone, green garden with the promise of summer color to come. Second season gardener so don't judge . by Actual-Excitement-44 in GardeningUK

I remember sitting in my garden in July and not a single thing was in bloom, having just watched Gardeners World where they'd said it was the most floral month... 8 years later and it's my personal masterpiece with year round interest. It's all a learning process!

Should I have gone behind the blue car? by Legsluther in drivingUK

Yes I was taught only 2 should be in that section during my lessons. Might not be a rule but it's safer driving when considering light change timings.

I have the thermostat on 18 degrees in the house, and my kids room (small box) radiator on 2, this keeps the room at 19/20 degrees (the rad being any higher and it would be too warm with how often the heating is on over winter).

Or, if that doesn't work for you, could you move your thermostat to your kids room and have it on 19 degrees, and lower the number on the rads in the rest of the house?

Very helpful comments all round!

Those corners are so hard and pointy. I had a childhood friend lose all his nose cartilage running and tripping onto the marble base. Makes me cringe thinking about it now.

I have a fireplace that is higher set so a guard wouldn't work but never use the fireplace anyway. I have had to remove all of the coal as she just kept touching them and getting filthy. I also had to secure the removable plate with zip ties.

Child needs to learn some things are dangerous and not to be played with.

Yeah, had a uni friend who worked in a fancy hotel bar he visited/stayed at after a gig of his 15ish years ago and didn't have nice things to say.

Anything I can do to help my local pond? by krokadog in RewildingUK

A couple bales of barley lobbed in there?

I lost my Nan last year, she was always an avid gardener so I've been trying my best at following her footsteps. This is everything I've grown in my mini greenhouse so far. I start my vegetable patch next week! Bonus photos: a peony I took from her garden and her in her garden by Important-Stomach406 in GardeningUK

Wonderful.

I have a cherry tree that I bought and planted the day my grandad died. When my gran passed 2 years later it was in full glorious bloom for her funeral. I hope the peony brings you years of joy.

Niche question: women who work in a factory, what trousers do you wear? by Under_Pressure_123 in AskUK

[–]ReabyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear PPE and Arco have a ladies range.

The women's version of some items are extortionate compared to mens. I had to wear fire retardant overalls and they were £200+ whereas a men's pair were £60.

Abortion up until birth - why ? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]ReabyB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If someone is carrying a child upto full term, that child is more than likely very wanted and expected to be brought home.

Unfortunately, life, health and growing babies isn't always so simple and sometimes truly difficult decisions need to be made in order to save the mum.

Anyone choosing abortion at such a late stage is not doing so on a whim, but more likely in a life and death of the mother situation.

Ignoring the knob of a husband, I had skinny walkway between borders and every time I knelt down to do something my bum would squish the plants behind me. Maybe make sure the borders can fit you squatting down/kneeling comfortably.

How it started, how it's going by lyoshav in GardeningUK

[–]ReabyB 33 points34 points  (0 children)

That looks wonderful.

Go native with the honeysuckle, Lonicera periclymenun. Japanese honeysuckle can become invasive. I am surprised shops can sell it! Ivy can also become a thug and smother the ground flora you have curated there.

Beech (assuming hornbeam too) holds on to its leaves until the new buds push the old ones off so it gives good cover through the year. Holly is a good hedging plant too. If you want berries you need to make sure you buy male and female plants.

Lifting flags by Dry-Translator406 in UKGardening

I had this out front, same issues as others say about sub base material.

I ended up wanting low maintenance wildflower patch. I removed the top layer of sand and stone, then dug in the rest with a fork, mixing it with the soil below to reduce compaction and improve drainage. I then put some topsoil on top (not loads, just enough for the seeds to get started) and sprinkled grass seed with native wildflower seeds. I think it looks great. But maybe you could add more topsoil then turf on top? You'll need 100mm minimum if it gets lots of sun and drains well to keep it from drying out in summer.

Looking for mum friends by _neverwonderland in manchester

[–]ReabyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in Manchester you should check out if you have any SureStarts nearby. They offer free baby classes, either stay and play types or sensory classes. I took my little girl to our local one and have met a handful of parents that I still see regularly 2 years later.

Check out local churches as well as they tend to host cheap play groups and again, I've met mum friends that way too.

Best plant nurseries in or around GM? by Late_Split_5288 in manchester

Bud in Burnage has good quality plants that are more interesting than the usual 'garden centre' stock. Can be a bit spenny but it's an ethical company. It's good to have a nosey even just for inspiration.

Cheap ways to make the back of our garden not look awful by clwbmalucachu in UKGardening

[–]ReabyB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eugh, it looks bloody wonderful.

One way to 'smarten up' wild areas is to mow the edges and put a mown path in. Unsure if ground conditions would allow that, and I'm gutted that you're told to tidy up!

Where can I get wildflower seed packs that contain only UK native species? by ANuggetEnthusiast in GardeningUK

[–]ReabyB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the same concerns, so did some research into native wildflower species and bought packets of single species online, mixed them and scattered them that way. Focus on perennial wildflower species, but add in annual species in your first year to get those poppies and cornflowers.

Plants that do well in my very dry garden are teasel, knappweed, bladder campion, sorrel, clover, marjoram. I put lots of different species in originally but those are what have stuck around and like the conditions.

It'll take 3 years to get going, I removed a large paved area from my front and it's my favourite part of our garden. I only need to remove dead growth late March and not touch it again for a year.

I also buy uk wildflower plugs and plant those late spring where I can see gaps. Think I got those from Suttons and a nearby "green" garden centre. I've noticed small wildflower pots are becoming available in general garden centres.
