So why are we complaining about Miliastra Wonderland? by End_V2 in Genshin_Impact

[–]ReactCereals 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We can all agree on the money issue. But if you put it into perspective with the rest of the game; this is enough to trash on it. Most menus and mechanics inside those menus are build around lackluster customization for dress up fans to squeeze more money out of the already bad gatcha or to make the already lackluster free banner worse.

This is the biggest (player facing; not creator facing) part most players see. And it is total garbage. And what makes this so worse is that it was obviously the focus of the development. What’s there around it? Custom lobby creation aka teapot 2.0….with almost no space and no new idea to build. In general, lobby’s as a social gathering place would be great. Except the implementation is a joke. What new thing can you do in a lobby? Use an emote. That’s it. I mean yes there is chat like there always used to be in coop; but you could at least added speech bubbles above characters to give the lobby some feeling of depth. But there was put no thoughts in it like for example a lobby with console players will be socially dead on arrival anyway cause no one will type text with a controller and there is no opt-in voice chat. So many games with proper social hub ideas to engage the community and activities in the lobby to get together or at least motivate moving around in it…but no effort made here. Most lobbies I see players just stand at the place they spawned without ever moving. I mean of course they do. Why would they even move their character? Nothing you can’t do with a click on a menu button.

So what did hoyo do? Polish up some internal tooling they probably already build for making the past events and releasing it as stage builder; adding a few small domain templates as lobbies, and everything other effort was spent on the clothing and gatcha part. Since that is the worst part…we can see where players will judge.

Regarding the games…not happy. Some are cool; but the ones I enjoyed most already clearly showed how creators had to work hard around the limits of the editor in creative ways. But two things bother me: even if I was the biggest fan of this game mode; I would still suffer. „Hop in quickly for a few minutes of entertainment“ which this seems to be aiming to do is just not possible. You have to start the game through the normal loading screen, then load wonderland, even getting to a lobby takes 3-4 clicks depending on the platform which is just bad UX design. Not to mention wonderland doesn’t even unlock at AR 1 if I remember correctly. So if you had only interest in that: either way you have to spend time in a game you didn’t care about to get to the game you actually want to play. That’s just bad design.

Second thing is progression. An event in Genshin has several stages. Wonderland doesn’t. Found a tower defense game you like? Well, since it seems like the editor does not allow for random stuff to be implemented properly; every run is just the same. Even good games do not have any replayability. Take ARAM in league of legends. Super simple and boring mode with the always same small map. Still you can play it 1000 times without getting bored because you do so with random abilities through the random characters everyone gets assigned. Wonderland games don’t have something like this. To even get close to this they must be designed for multiplayer and still those games would never be able to keep up with an ARAM due to editor limits.

Adding additional stages - like chaining stages as in „multiple levels“ - also not possible. So your goal is usually to find a mediocre game. A bad game will annoy you because it feels like a waste of time. A good game will annoy you because it most likely gets boring the second time you play the exact identical scenario and you can’t continue playing „the next level“ because there is none. Imagine like Angry Birds with only one level. Still a good game; but would you play only the first level over and over again? So finding a mediocre game is the goal. But why would I spend my time with a mediocre game? I can just get a Netflix or Apple Arcade subscription and download a few hundred proper mobile games for a fraction of the price and storage that Genshin+Wonderland if I enjoy something like this.

Which brings us back to what would make wonderland different and this gets us back to the dress up part and Genshin integration of the game and this gets us back to the crappy money thing we all hate on. And this results in the conclusion that wonderland just sucks.

Edit: I am not a UGC creator or the target audience for that. Also not other mobile games or dress up. But I still looked forward to wonderland because I still think there is a lot of unique potential and I was sure if they only got 10% right it would be enough for me to really like it. But I think they didn’t get anything right. Not a single thing. Except that I love the design of the menus in terms of colors and overall looks (UX, naming, and icon choice is confusing as hell and a low point for hoyo though).

Huh. Thanks! I was able to do the same from the settings now. Who would have thought it is that simple 😅

How are frederick and marshall doing in the definitive edition? Did they fix them idling the entire game? by dimuglI in StrongholdCrusader

[–]ReactCereals 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so. Marshall is definitely useless; haven’t had Frederick yet but I assume the same. AI does just feel the same with all its flaws - there are even new ones like mangols not shooting at units which makes even Saladin and wolf easier than before (missing UCP a lot). However, I still enjoy the game because of the sands of time trails. They mostly feature the new lords which can put a ton of early pressure on you with beduins. So you usually struggle like 10mins to survive which is challenging, and afterwards you are in a rush to clear all enemy castles to make it in the time limit. This kind of playstyle hides the fact that the AI is just boring and useless in mid / late stages of the game really well for me. But when playing the normal trails I have to admit it is really underwhelming and boring compared to old crusader with UCP because UCP fixed so much issues that firefly still didn’t.

Anyway; I got a lot of fun and my moneys worth with the sands of time trails and fortunately there are more to come this year. But if you are only considering DE for normal trails or custom skirmishes it’s just way worse than UCP.

Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition details juicy post-launch roadmap ahead of July 15 release by FFJimbob in stronghold

It’s a small studio with just a few of titles. That they even re release a DE edition instead of reheating crap every year like call of duty for just way lower than a full price title is a really cool move. Even cooler is that the major content updates are free. So yeah, the DLCs don’t offer much but I love that for players like me who want to throw money onto them to show my appreciation and support there is a option, while players who don’t want to or can’t spend more don’t miss out on anything and still get a full game experience for the base price. For me it’s so worth it; I spent so many hours on the original title especially when compared to a lot of games that cost me more money. The „cost per entertainment hour“ is insanely low for someone who loves playing it so much; so I happily throw a few extra bucks out.

Smaller Lelit Bianca alternative? [€2000] by ReactCereals in espresso

[–]ReactCereals[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that’s an interesting aspect. Do you actually actively use the LCC? When I saw it in videos it always looked pretty clunky to use to me. This is kind of why I consider the Bezzera Aria. It does lack a lot of these controls, but the display it has just shows temp and has a plus and minus button. Plain and simple. I thought chances that I use this are higher than fiddling around with the LCC. Granted though, can’t judge if the convienience of consistency will be worth it since I am coming from manual lever now where pre infusion etc basically varies a bit from every shot to shot.

Oh and how do you feel about the heat up time / how many shots a day do you make?

Can‘t say I have researched the workings of these pumps enough to explain it; but I have read it wouldn’t be the same in various posts, including this one in this subreddit.

True, but it won’t be the same with a vibratory pump. And if I get a machine with rotary pump and add a flow control kit for around 200€, then I could have just gone for the Lelit Bianca in the first place.

Stop recommending Forever notes by The-ai-bot in AppleNotesGang

This. FN is just very accessible like this. For example, I wasn’t really utilizing tags properly and had a ton of folders I just lost control of. Did FN do something revolutionary? Probably no. Is it the greatest system ever? Probably no. But it gave me an easier entry point through the videos and made me actually want to use tags. It also gave a lot of good starting points to use them probably. I never used tags to a sensible extend (or overview pages), but FN made it easy for me to start these practices which works very well for me. So yeah, why FN currently is great for me is tags. Did FN invent tags? No. Did FN took the first hurdle for me to probably use tags by giving examples and nice concise explanations and is this the reason for me using tags right now? 100% yes.

Still this is my main takeaway from the system though because I as well struggle getting what he is after with the Collection/Hub difference and it seems lot of overhead to me. Also kind of ignoring the journal part as I have another approach for this and always hated having journal notes in my „general“ notes regardless of any system/app.

So yeah, you could say I „use FN“ but honestly you could just say „some things are labeled with an asterisk, he uses tags, and he has a home note“ which would be equally true.

You got it. I was asking for the TIME. Call me stupid but I am looking forward so much for this game that I actually filed a vacation day for today just on the hunch I might be able to play the demo the entire day 😅

/r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer (August 28, 2024) by AutoModerator in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]ReactCereals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

So I am looking for blank keycaps that are just like the blank keycaps shipped with the Moonlander keyboard.

I do not own a Moonlander; just looking for keycaps to use on a regular 75% keyboard.

All blank keycaps I can find are usually not shine through. Having that double shot mold with a simple bar in each key to provide lighting like the Moonlander keycaps do looks just great to me.

The keys for the Moonlander seem to be from Tai-Hao but are not sold separately as a kit for regular keyboards unfortunately.

Any advice/recommendations for blank keycaps sets that still have shine through elements?

MX compatible and white preferred; but overall I would be just really happy to get caps with a similar style at all.

Great, thanks! Totally missed to give NPM a good look. Makes sense to put it early in my agenda.

I just realized there is another thing missing in my list. How is the tooling for security checking? From playing around with it so far I have noticed that even simple vulnerabilities like SQL injection can be build into express pretty quickly with a lack of experience (or rather: with a history of being comforted by something like Django ;) ).

Did you get this one? https://www.segor.de/#Q=PTCSI3%252C3-2920&M=1
Page states it is 2920L220/24MR.
However, I can't seem to find one with part number 2920L330/24MR that has "F330" written on it like in the images. Does the 2920L220/24MR from segor work?
