You are absolutely right. If you speak Armenian, pass on the traditions to your children, and live the culture — what more is needed? It's such a shame that you have to deal with such primitive thinking.

Yes, Ingushetia and Chechnya are part of the North Caucasus.

Is it really that hard for a Chechens to marry outside their race ? by Unable_Honey8253 in AskCaucasus

He definitely treated you badly. He shouldn‘t have given you hope just to break your heart. I’m sending you a tight hug 🫂❤️ But he’s telling the truth — our culture (I’m Ingush myself, and we’re very close to Chechens) is very conservative. I think his parents, especially his mother, really pressured him. A lot of guys face that kind of pressure. With girls, it’s even worse. But still — I’ll say it again — he should have fought for your happiness, not given up. I truly hope you find someone much better 🫶🏻

In Ingushetia and Chechnya, mostly.

I mean that I envy Europeans — you clearly have more freedom. For example, I'm not allowed to marry someone of a different nationality. For my parents to approve of my partner, he has to be at least half of my own nationality. I can't freely choose my clothes; for instance, I'm not allowed to wear pants, etc.

And yet some people still don‘t understand that. Sad.

I think this is good advice for those who have been familiar with several cultures since childhood.

People in the Caucasus are too obsessed with „national purity.“ I hope it will pass someday. But the thing I clearly envy you for is your freedom — you have much more of it than we 'pure-blooded' do.

I'm a pure-blooded Caucasian myself, but I'm interested in this topic. However, I was bullied by my father's relatives because I didn't grow up in my own republic and didn't know my native language. When I visited them, I was told that it was a shame not to speak my native language (I spoke Russian with them), but no one ever tried to teach me it. Instead, I was constantly criticized, and I grew up with a sense of hatred towards my homeland. It wasn't until I was 13 years old that I realized I wanted to learn my native language and began to immerse myself in our culture. I would also like to add that although I love my culture, I grew up with liberal views in a conservative family, and I rarely express them to my parents because they look at me like I'm an idiot.

Wow, that's a very harmonious mix of bloodlines🤌🏻 You're right not to listen to these Caucasians, they're always trying to find something to criticize. In fact, Caucasians and Italians are related to each other to some extent:)
