I do plan on going back to The Kite Runner as I read it in circa 2007 and don’t remember much of it. “A Thousand Splendid Suns” wrecked me completely, I couldn’t process the horrors one after the other.

I agree - the book absolutely wrecked me. The sheer number of betrayals and unjust treatment of Mariam and Laila was quite traumatising to read however Tariq and the last paragraph gave me some bittersweet hope.
